Synopsis

The film is set in the India of the tumultuous 1930's when nationalists fighting for the country's independence rose up as one, urging the British to quit. At this time, a young Indian, Kisna befriends and then shields a British girl Katherine, from an enraged mob of nationalists including Kisna's own uncle and brother. Katherine is the young daughter of a ruthless British collector. Kisna takes it upon himself to escort Katherine to the safety of the British High Commission in New Delhi, who will arrange for her to board a ship home. A tender attraction develops between Kisna and Katherine during the journey, a love story that is torn between 'Karma' (the noble deed) and 'Dharma' (the duty). Laxmi, the Indian girl Kisna is engaged to, forms the third point in an emotional triangle involving the Indo-British romantic pair

patrick-kelmer The Movie tells the story about an girl(Antonia Bernhardt) their grown up in Uttaranchal in the 1930's.Her Father sent her to London, and 1947 she come back to India. She falls in Love With her Childhout Friend Kisna(Vivek Oberoi).... The Story is about A love between an British Girl and an Indian Boy Around the 1947 Independence. Excellent Movie!!!!! *~*~*One of Best Movies Ever!!!!!!!!!!*~*~*~* The débutant's in the Movie are Antonia Bernhardt(Hindi Debut!!!) and Isha Sharvani(Film Debut). The Soundtrack is Very Nice.... The First song is Mujhme Shiv Hai(sung by Alka Yagnik and Sukhwinder Singh). The Song Hum Hai Is Pal is SO good,i love it!And the Mujra Song Chilman Uthegi Nahin(danced by Sushmita Sen). And the Last song is My Wish Comes True is so good.
gypsy5102 While I do not think that Kisna was an excellent movie, it gave what I approached it for: the story of a relationship between an Indian man and a white woman. This subject is not touched upon very often in Indian cinema, and often white women are depicted as stupid or vain. So this movie bring some encouragement since many interracial relationships are arising in this generation between Indians and whites and we could use a little hope. Although Kisna keeps his obligation and leaves Catherine, they love each other and make no apologies about it. As someone who is constantly pushed away by Indian parents who don't approve of a white girl, I find cinematic hope in Kisna.
rock831983 Just came back after watching Kisna...and it was a bit disappointment..however the overall movie is good.. Story u have known so far...the love story is refreshing...but the movie drags sometimes.. and i was surprised i din saw Subhash Ghai in movie... Ashok Mehta have done brilliant cinematography..its the best thing of the movie...really awesome... music is good as we all know but a English song is in movie... Ghai had tried to make this movie great but he is unable to match up with the expectations... Coming to performances...Isha Sharwani seems to be in gymnastic earlier..her flexible body is flexed more than we expect...not much to do in acting department..but have done good job what she have been offered..Antonia had surprised with her acting...her tuti futi Hindi is delightful... she is the winner in this movie...absolutely damn good performance and she is the show stellar...Now Vivek Oberoi:He looks cool...but below average performance..totally forgettable..the movie being named on him and only established star among three he should have come with electrifying performance...but he gives just passable performance and one major drawback of the movie...And its being 25 crr movie it ud be very tough for KISNA to get successful...Sorry GHAI sahab u need SRK,AAMIR OR HRITIK in this movie to make it an epic...Overall its good... 3/5....peace
suxena Kisna is an interesting movie, complete with great acting, story, songs and action. It is a typical Subash Ghai movie- A love story set against the backdrop of a chase. The story is set in 1930s and 1940s. It is about the family of a British Governor of an Indian province . He is non tolerant towards Indians, but his wife and daughter love India and it's people. The daughter makes best friends with the house hold servants son, and in later years this blossoms into love.Typical problems of pre independence India follow(Frowned upon by all parties concerned-The British, The Indian Royalty, The Families and the Villagers). There is the usual Indian masala of love triangles, action, chase, family drama etc. I would recommend anyone to see this movie ,if not for anything else than the acting of Antonia Bernath and the great songs. It is not a great movie, but it keeps you engrossed through out.7/10
