Here we have "Katie Melua: Concert Under the Sea", a 66-minute documentary movie from 2006, so this one is already over a decade old. British/Georgian singer Katie Melua was in her early 20s when this was made. Director is Kim Strømstad and he is Norwegian like basically everybody else working on this movie. Don't be fooled by the title: This is not just a concert. Actually the first half is a making-of/behind-the-scenes effort as we find out about all the logistic struggles and preparations for the Katie Melua concert on this most unusual location. How to get everybody down there, how to make sure everybody is safe at any time. Yeah well, they perhaps made it look a bit more dramatic than it actually was, but it's all fine. The first 30 minutes would maybe get a lower rating from me, but it's still nice to see everybody in awe of Melua. I also found it interesting that the project was seemingly there before casting Melua as the one to perform. Anyway, when she enters the stage eventually and the second half starts, it all gets much better, not that it#s bad before that. Melua is a joy to listen to and watch (not just because of her beauty), but because you can see how she feels each and every song. Also a pretty nice idea to get a crew member on stage and have him play the piano during a Melua song that must have made everybody from the crew feel more involved with the entire event. I really wish i could have been there. Some songs I liked more, some less, but that's all personal and subjective of course. "Closest Thing to Crazy" at the very end may have been my top choice and what a way to finish it all. I almost felt a bit sad when I saw her leave the place finally. Just like I felt sad when the one time I saw Melua live here in Berlin the concert ended eventually. Angel-like voice and I really got to see her again is what I recognize during this very inspiring documentary. This is something different and it would be amazing to see more concert DVDs and performances being released to the public like the one from Johnny Cash in Prison from half a century ago or so. But the opposite happens unfortunately as this Melua documentary is almost forgotten now despite her being still a big star. What a shame. i hope I can inspire at least one person to watch this piece of art. Don't miss out. She will turn you into a fan or into an even bigger fan if you've been one before the way she refreshed my memory on how much I love her. Always have. Always will. thanks Katie.

Katie is intriguing, this production is also. Mature, warm, original. Who say's it's dull needs to much exiting to be satisfied. A pity that there is only stereo sound. It should have had some innovative sound technique to express the special location of the concert. As the title says it is at the bottom of the (North)see. In one of the very big legs of a huge oil platform near Norway. The atmosphere of the often harsh conditions on a oil platform with also sometimes dreamy sunsets meet the special Katie Melua wave. The platform-manager Jan came up with this idea to fulfill his dream and reaches for the quiness book of records. The question remains which dream did come true. The record, the few minutes with Katie in the sunset looking over the sea or having a concert in a bizarre place or all of them.

The first time i saw Katie Melua is in one of her MV called "If You Were A Sailboat",all of the things in the MV are very impressed. She is so beautiful enough to make everyone forget to breath, like an angel came from the heaven, and her sound is wonderful that i don't know how to express my mood at that time.I like her so much,i always think if she can be my girlfriend even for a while i can do everything for her.Obviously, she is a talent singer,i feel comfortable an enjoy when i listen to her song."Nine million bicycles in Beijing" is one of my favourite song of her,i have saw the concert under the sea, there are few audiences in the concert, she is just go there sang for the workers who work,i am moved.I always remember the scene that she sang nine million bicycles in Beijing with her fingers flying on the guitar under the ocean. The concert is the greatest one i have saw.She is wonderful,i think i should give some support in IMDb here.
