This is the best KJo movie to date. The way characters are portrayed, they are flawed just like us and this film showed that there is nothing wrong with it.I loved SRK's character as it was so real and relevant to me at least.People failed to understand this movie even I did because I was too young to understand the subject but now I love this movie. Not that it doesn't have flaws,it has.But it certainly doesn't deserve this low rating. That's why I rated it 10

I don't know why this idea of LOVE BEYOND BOUNDARIES fascinates me that much. If you see this movie from a critical eye you will find the concept against the values of eastern culture, but they way Rani and Shahrukh acted this movie is flawless and one of my all time favorite movies from Indian film industry. I would say no one from their industry can play this role the way they have done, the way they pretend to hide and show-off their feelings, at least for me it was super natural. Take a bow the best actors. Among all of the circle of my friends and family, I am the only person who likes this movie, no one else. I would say that probably this movie hit a very less number of spectators, that's the reason it doesn't have the rating which it actually deserves. For those who have not watched this flick, if your thinking is limited to the boundaries our society have set for us then you will not like this one, but if you will try to understand that this can happen in real world too, then the way this movies is filmed, you will find it spectacular.

After the horrible film Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, Karan Johar attempts something more intelligent and different. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna is full of coincidences but that doesn't matter. The screenplay, on the whole, is a masterpiece. The film starts off like an ordinary story of the happily married couple, Dev and Rhea and the about to wed couple Rishi and Maya but in less than 15 minutes, the film gallops over five years and explores the loopholes in the relationships. The film offers a perfect explanation for Dev's jealousy for Rhea but fetters in telling clearly why Maya is not happy with Rishi – maybe they are just not made for each other. And finally, Dev and Maya fall for each other and then comes the intermission. The series of events that drive to the interval hold your attention throughout. Johar intelligently adds some humor to the fast- moving serious story in the form of misunderstandings and Rishi's father, Sexy Sam's playboy nature. The post interval portions also hold your attention. The witty dialogs by Niranjan Iyengar and Karan's treatment of the scenes leave tremendous impact. Screenplay mainly focuses on situations than story in this hour and the situations are well-exploited to make wonderful scenes. The scene where Rhea and Maya cross the road, unknowingly together, to take the flowers from the flustered Dev standing across the road deserved the best scene of the decade award. The ending of the film is a bit dragged with Dev and Maya lying to each other and living separately for three years but nevertheless, I do appreciate Karan's boldness in delivering an ending never witnessed on the Indian screen before. The editing and cinematography is more on New York, and some have been critical about it, but being a person who has never been to New York, I did love seeing the city in the film. The locations have been selected carefully to go with the moods of the scenes. Also, the extensive use of red and black was a nice idea by the costume designer Manish Malhotra. The makeup of the leads is astounding; all of them look damn gorgeous throughout. Also, I loved the way the song Tumhi Dekho Na starts with Mukherjee saying 'I love blue' and Lo! Everybody wears blue.Sharukh Khan as Dev is seasoned to such roles and no comments on his marvelous performance. Rani Mukherjee as Maya steals the show by giving life to the weak characterization. She does manage to give some laughs in the first hour and delivers the histrionics perfectly. She is a great actor. Abhishek Bacchan is revelation. His character is most etched and he does full justice. Preity Zinta bowled me by her sincerity to work. She walks with grace, delivers dialogs calmly and bears with Dev silently. She doesn't go over the top. Amitab Bacchan is my favorite in the film. He tickles the funny bone perfectly. Kirron Kher lends adequate support. The scenes involving Kher and Bacchan are fun to watch.Music is too good. Tumhi Dekho Na and Mitwa have poetic lyrics and are choreographed and shot well. Rock n Roll is a distinct number and Amitab rocks in it. Where's the party, being a good composition, is placed wrong in the film and the title track as well as the background music which is mainly the title track and Tumhi Dekho's instrumental version are good. The only letdown is the running time – it is horribly long. Also, I disagree with the CBFC of India's certification – the film is adult. The film is a landmark one for its bold theme and for the performances. After watching Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, I dare not agree that Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham was directed by Karan Johar.

'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' is Karan Johar's latest attempt after 'Kal Ho Na Ho' and it explores the theme of extramarital relationships.'KANK' tells the story of Dev (Shah Rukh Khan) and Maya (Rani Mukherjee) who embark on an extramarital relationship because they are neglected by their spouses, Rhea (Preity Zinta) and Rishi (Abhishek Bachchan). To start with, the idea isn't refreshing or novel at all. This theme of adultery and misunderstanding between husbands and wives were experimented umpteen times in Bollywood. But the treatment that goes with telling the story is appreciating. Karan Johar brings a certain amount of depth into the characters and makes us connect to their emotions. But there's one inconsistency in the plot and that is Dev and Maya's relationship. Their relationship looks like nothing more than physical attraction. The two end up in bed too quickly before even giving any chance to their spouses to realize their shortcomings.'KANK' rests on SRK and Rani's shoulders. They perform ably and bring certain depth to their characters. Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan are good too. Amitabh Bachchan also has his moments. Kiron Kher is lovable. Editing is good and is in sync with the pace of the movie. Cinematography is awesome and the locales of U.S.A have been captured to the fullest. Choreography could've been better.'KANK' is a must watch.
