Chrysanthepop 'Kaal' was quite a mess of a movie. I found most of it unintentionally hilarious. Soham's direction is pretty unstable. It's as if hé himself is trying to see what happens next (when it's all quite predictable). All the performances are very bad. The camera seems to focus a lot on John Abraham's torso and the actor himself is mostly wooden. Ajay Devgan sounds sleepy all the time and looks uninterested. Esha Deol and Lara Dutta where designer outfits and run around in the jungle. While the former does nothing, the latter loudly overacts. Vivek Oberoi is the only one who acts and gives a decent performance. The 'scary' scenes provide decent comic relief. The jungle scenes were rather nicely shot (though cinematography sucks at many places) and it felt good to see a change of location rather than the dancing in New York wearing skimpy outfits. What a drag of a flick though.
ashsahu i don't know how anyone didn't noticed that there is a major goof in the movie which destroys the whole logic. right from the beginning the character of vishal is shooting with his handycam. he also shoots the clip where kali is around with the three tigers. in the end when vivek and john discovers through his handycam that kali is invisible throughout. how come vishal didn't see it while he was shooting? the scriptwriter should have shown some common sense or they think the viewers don't have any? also in the end of the movie the song tauba tauba is shown when one of the characters is dead. it should have been in the starting swapping with the shahrukh song.
ChiBron I watched the 1st hour and just couldn't take anymore of this torture.Everything abt this movie stinks - Direction, Special Effects, Background score, Cinematography and especially THE ACTING!! Vivek's 'tough guy' act had me cracking up the entire time. "Cut the crap". Who in their right minds would think such a lame line could make anyone look cool or tough? Vivek's delivery only makes it worse. This Srk-wannabe needs to take a lengthy break. All of his performances post-Saathiya have stunk. Who decided to make him the guy with the 'attitude'? He's abt as intimidating as an ant in the 1st half. Can't believe how quickly his career has sunk after such a promising start. Moving on, John Abraham is probably the most expression-less actor I've seen in Bollywood. Should've stuck to modeling. The awkward looking guy who played 'Sajid' was even worse then those two....he talks like a girl. The Mickey Mouse dude('Mambo' from Ishq Vishq) seemed like the only one who could actually act. This sleeping pill deserves a 2/10. .5 each for the three sl*ts(Malaika, Esha & Lara) who did a decent job in the 2 songs. Esha and Lara also weren't too bad for a little comedy(albeit, unintentional comedy). So .5 for those two.
blade_bugs I had seen this film yesterday, considering it to be a Karan Johar & Shahrukh Khan Production, expected much more than the crap that I just saw.The Acting was very poor, plots that were undefined & unexpected, background music that was terrible & reallyyyyyyy nothing scary. It was just a popcorn ride. The film could have been much, much, better than what was imagined & directed by Soham. The plot changed from one part to another & then what do you recognize at the end, it is the same old Indian Masala. Most of the Scenes were copied from Hollywood films which by surprise should not happen under a Huge banner.Well at the end, just would like to say that it was waste of time & money.
