The Catholics have so much to be embarrassed about these days, so it's no wonder they're particularly sensitive to anything that shows them in a ridiculous light. This movie was just plain funny. When your in a position of public embarrassment, what else can you do but laugh?I thought Alan Rickman's and Linda Fiorentino's portrayals of their characters were great. The other characters made a good supporting cast, as well. The only thing I really didn't like about it was the character of God at the end. It was stretching it a little too much, but that could be because I was expecting something closer to George Burns' depiction of God in his movie of years ago.

I heard major comments against this movie when it came out and all I have to say is...If you are true to your religion this movie won't bother you. Even Jesus had a crisis of faith, read the bible. Take it for what it is.

I dont know what all the fuss is about, this was a great film, I didnt find anything weak about it! I was laughing till the end. Whats the point in protesting about a movie like this? its all just for FUN!
Kevin Smith is a great director and I am looking forward to his new films!

i love k. smith, am catholic and can take a joke (loved life of brian for instance) but smith's f. u. turn the other cheek attitude because a few people protested is ridiculous, and mosiers religious fanatics comment is a little over the top. Some people protested boo hoo you were never in danger of being put to death like solomon rushdie of satanic verses fame for goodness sakes you made a profit and as far as the movie goes it was a good even great cast, it's look was very nice but many parts instead of being funny were weak and at times in bad taste as well which i wouldn't have noticed as much if i was laughing like i had been at mallrats or clerks in closing i can forgive the men that brought us brodie anything but buck up guys people get offended sometimes it's life.
