abayes2-1 I remember James Mason battling through to the center of the Earth and have fond memories of this Jules Verne classic so I was a bit cautious when I watched this 1999 remake recently. However I need not have worried as Treat Williams and Bryan Brown combined to make this an enjoyable rollicking tale that stays very true to Mr Vernes original writings. Good scripts, more than passable cgi and sfx make for a really pleasant 3 hr journey both on the screen and off. Low points are few, as both the main characters and extras all seem to really enjoy their work and as a result the viewer does too! Props costumes and actors combine to deliver a thoroughly enjoyable remake of a classic! PS: I actually got hold of 39 pieces of storyboard art from this movie which are now on my wall so I was obviously a fan of this movie!
dabuane Technically and with re: to flow of the script, this movie is excellent, as well as graphic detail. Though I have not read the original book, I DID like the JTCOTH with Pat Boone. Not because of Pat Boone, though he's one of my present-day heroes, for his part wasn't, I thought, all that below-the-earth-shattering. But the complexity of detail in that movie was better than JTCOTH with Jeremy London. Of course Jeremy London, as all characters did equally well, expressed insightfully great facial expression. The Pat Boone (Jonas part) DVD though I have it, haven't seen that version (no DVD player puts a crimp on that). Have had no chance to see the credits from Jeremy London's JTCOTH, but the credits for the Pat Boone movie are good (Carlsbad Caverns). God bless!
Movie Nuttball Minor SpoilersThe following is in My opinionI thought this film was going to be spectacular with all kinds of dinosaurs and action!Boy was I disappointed:(I don't mind films that have a lot of dialogue but this was supposed to be an adventure/dinosaurs film and is I got was the relationships between the people. This was well over two hours and I believe it was about three in a half or so and I was so disappointed about this.If want to rent or purchase this film please don't rush it because if you like any Jurassic Park film of any dinosaur film for that matter I think just about any dino movie would beat this any day because at least even the worst dino films had the guts to show the dinos and don't let the box of th film fool you because that great looking T-Rex on the box is no where to be seen in this never ending no-dino fest:(Avoid this movie!
wneskora2006 This is the best movie!! I give it 10/10. Even though most of the story wasn't from the book, it's the best movie I've seen in years. The whole cast did perfect on acting. The music was so moving. I plan to buy anything I can on this movie. (Posters, etc). Anyone who hasn't seen this, buy it or rent it now! Jeremy London did excellent as the unexperienced nephew on the expedition. So did Treat Williams and the Professor. Go rent this once-in-a-lifetime movie NOW!!
