Synopsis

Vishu and Ramu are a pair of Indian twins living in America with their father, Rajamani. When Madhumita (Aishwarya Rai) and her brother come to America to get medical treatment for their ailing grandmother, Vishu and Ramu end up meeting them at the airport. Vishu falls in love with Madhumita, and the couple has everyone's blessing, except for Rajamani, who is estranged from his own twin brother. He only wants his sons to marry twin sisters, so Madhumita pretends to have a twin in order to please him. As Madhumita puts on a charade by creating Vaishnavi, all goes well, until Ramu falls in love with Vaishnavi. Now the truth must come out, before Madhumita has to marry both of Rajamani's twin sons.

Reviews

Sakthi Vel I don't understand a lot of negative reviews. This movie is a marvelous work of imagination and creativity. -A very nice love story. -The cast of movie is nice, the actors have done a really great job in portraying the character. -The songs and bgm's are the best! -Aishwariya and Prasanth pair looks lovely.AISH looks gorgeous especially in all the songs. -It gives a great break from the usual story line of the Indian movies -The vfx is not comparable to recent films but considering the time of its making it is such a great feat.In fact it had its place in Guinness for beating Jurassic park in vfx length. The movie overall gives a pleasant feel.Don't go around looking for logics.Just watch movie and it will never disappoint you. In my opinion this movie is a MASTERPIECE,the best i have seen and will always have a place in my heart.
i love you rao I remember how crazy I used to be about this movie when I was a kid. It was the most expensive Tamil movie made then and the hype and hoopla when it released were phenomenal. I even performed one of the songs, 'columbus' on stage in school when I was a kid.Speaking only of the Tamil version, this film is the only one directed by Shankar which is not related to social issues and is predominantly a love story (a rarity these days). Sure watching it then and now, it is a totally different experience. Then, the story, scenes, sets, leads, acting were an eye-opener. Now though, everything seems rather cheesy but the movie sure sustains its nostalgia, beauty (of young Aishwarya and the locations) and the special effects. No matter what, this movie always holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of my childhood.
Me Raj I saw the Tamil version and it was really good. I don't know the about the Hiindi version, but I heard it SUCKED. I love the Tamil version. What I really liked was the realistic idea of it. I know a few fathers do want their sons or daughters to marry to the same family. So, the movie had something that really happens. Unlike other movies where the ideas they have nothing to do with real life but has no science fiction in it.The fantastic part was the first part where the twins and the family meet. It was really funny and it made the movie worth seeing. Even if it was only a few parts that were somewhat funny that it was somewhat like "laughing while rolling on the floor". This was one of the things that I liked about this movie. I also fall for romantic movies which has a happily ever after. I know they aren't real or anything, but this movie does have real facts.Well, this movie was made in 1998, and even if it is old, it is worth seeing. But I should tell you, some of the scenes might be silly.
srikant-1 This is one of the few movies I have seen with such lousy continuity. People erupt into song and dance for no apparent reason and do weird things like burning laptops and mobile phones (this is apparently to destress themselves!). The lead actress is good looking and some of the music is not all that bad. This is a movie to be seen in at most 15 minute bites.
