Jarhead 2: Field of Fire is the fun sequel and the fun overall flick that the first film failed to be which is a war film and believe me there's plenty of action here and there but please do not be mislead by the poster cause Cole Hauser is not and i repeat is not the main protagonist. This is a watchable war flick and suprisingly well made too. (7/10)

grot-16778 This is full of spoilers so don't read it if you want to watch this, but in my humble opinion it does not matter. It is a good ride if you want action but reasons goes out the window from moment go.For purely entertainment value I would like to give this movie a solid 9, but:as an action movie this is not so bad. Action is non-stop and it has a relatively believable (to movie goers, not military personnel, and I am not one of them) story. Special effects are also good, and actors are acting better than in most B/straight to video/TV movies. Unfortunately logic has no place here at all. Movie starts with attack on US held outpost. Outpost is nowhere near a hill top, this is 21 century with choppers providing supplies and so on, this is a matter of life and death. If that wasn't enough there are cliffs at distances of no more than 20 meters overlooking this base, from which enemy fighters can shoot down marines at will. Even guards towers - presumably build for defense - are below these rocks at distances of no more than 20 meters. No need for insurgents to aim, just shoot, yet that base is somehow not overrun. It is simply not possible for any military to construct bases like that, unless singular aim of leadership of said military organization is creating martyrs. And somehow I don't believe it is a goal of US marines. Than we have a convoy. Four vehicles: first one is heavily loaded with supplies unarmored truck, next two are the marine Humvees and the last one of course is unprotected loaded with supplies truck. Perfect scenario for an ambush. Why even bother with these two Humvees in the middle? Shoot unarmored leading and closing vehicles first on barely passable mountain track and no one should survive. This scenario has been done in Vietnam since 1950's (when French were there) and during USSR intervention in Afghanistan in late 1970's (guess where this movie takes place), yet apparently nobody in US military learned the lessons.Then we have a firefight with a Taliban's RPG exploding inside a house (a single room) where all heroes are defending themselves, sending them to the floor incapacitated. Taliban enters the house - after sustaining heavy casualties - searches for a target and leaves. Leaving all marines dazed, armed and vengeful, but uninjured. Yet in earlier scene one of the marines themselves - after a firefight - executes wounded Taliban insurgent because he was upset that couple of his friend were killed/injured. I dread to even contemplate who is supposed to have a moral high ground here and this is not a movie that preaches like original Jarhead was.I am not going to continue with the final scenes, because I think I made my point. Great mindless flick to watch, but beware: once you start to use most simplistic logic all is going to hell extremely fast.

anarchyclub72 Yes, I know this is just a movie, but if you're going to make a movie about 'something', then you should probably research whatever it is first. There are just way too many mistakes and awkward conversations/interactions between the Marines to make this enjoyable. First off, the conversation about "bushes" (no, not the foliage) was completely out of place and bizarre. 2). If you find me an ANA guy that runs in front of everyone and successfully deactivates an IED by himself...I'll eat my hat. 3). The optics used were incorrect, and some of them weren't even put on properly. Holographic sites were backwards and so were the red dots. 4). The weapons used were incorrect. Should be using M4's not M16A4. Furthermore, why did one of the Marines have an SBR?5). Why were the Taliban using LAWs?6). If you ride the charging handle on a .50 cal you're going to be in for a rough time.7). If you unload your entire magazine on full auto you're not going to be hitting much at 50+ yards. No one does that in real life. 8). The segment where they're unloading full-auto during a 'training exercise' was just...the female 'Marine' didn't even shoulder the weapon properly.I think that's enough for now. Please, if you're going to make a movie about the military, at least put in some time to research everything and train the actors in the proper use of their equipment.

Alisdair Edmond When I first saw that there was going to be a sequel to Jarhead I already felt disappointed, I was a huge fan of the first movie and did not feel it ever needed a sequel. Hearing that it was action in this movie made me even worse as one of the main themes of the first Jarhead was the lack of action. However I must say after watching this I would say I was pleasantly surprised and do not feel it soiled the Jarhead name like one of those sequels that makes fans pretend it never happened. It started off slow and uninteresting. I thought the main character himself was quite underdeveloped but once this movie gets going you do start to care for these characters. I think the main character could have been a lot more human than just being a marine as I couldn't relate to him. Warning lots of Hu-Rah's and Hell Yea's.The script itself could have done with a little more polishing with some scenes feeling they could have had more of an impact but there is some intense scenes in this movie which is what I like in an action movie. There was one or two cliché moments but aside from that this was a pretty strong movie. It carried some important messages about how bad situations build great bonds. It also has the sort of Saving Private Ryan "How can one person be so important" cliché. It still pulls it off though. So go into this with an open mind unlike me. Go in and just have a good time with this.I personally don't mind if more Jarhead movies come out now as long as they all carry different messages and they are made to be stand alone movies.
