This movie is just garbage. Sorry if this counts as a spoiler, but there's no discernible plot other than "giant insects are attacking." Most of the characters are interchangeably bland and non- important, so I'm not even sure how many are left unless they're all together in one room for a headcount. The main character is supposed to come off as funny (I guess) but ends up being just obnoxious, like if Ryan Reynolds had his IQ bumped down 30 points or so.Worst of all, however, is that this movie doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a monster movie? Is it a spoof of a monster movie? Are the rampant clichés put there on purpose, or is it just a lack of originality? Do the characters do and say deliberately dumb things because it's supposed to be funny? Or was this movie written by people who have no idea how real humans act?On the other hand, the special effects are well-executed. Whoever did the insect effects in this film could be on the crew of a Naked Lunch remake. Other than that, I'm not sure how this film has gotten such great reviews, except that maybe most people who like good films have never heard of it. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with this trash heap straight out of Amateurville.

This is ridiculously stupid, yet hilarious. It doesn't pretend to be something it's not and revels in it's own idiocy. The concept is completely out there and the perfect Friday night movie to watch after a long hard week. Be prepared to laugh out loud while rolling your eyes simultaneously. As for the actors, well they do a pretty good job with what they're given and the special effects are quite good. Slightly in the same league as Sharknado in some parts but really good in others.I really enjoyed this movie and I'm glad I decided to watch it as I originally thought I should give it a miss. Recommended for people who like to watch Sci-Fi horror/comedies.

Giant bugs attempt to take over the world. Infestation is surprisingly not one of though cheap TV films, instead director Kyle Rankin delivers a well made piece of entertainment with some gross effects, great locations and cast. Sometimes the black comedic tone is inconsistence and a few effects work better than others. Nevertheless, the supporting cast are fine, Chris Marquette gives a good performance as the likably flawed anti-hero Cooper and Kinsey Packard's brief appearance as Cindy is notable. Ever reliable Ray Wise is on form. It's road movie feel, the character trying to get from one place to another gives it a grounding and substantial atmosphere that many of the blockbuster films lack. While the ending is predicable there's enough gore moments and surprises to keep you entertained.Overall it's good fun that's more A-film pretending to be a B-film like Tremors as appose to some DTV channel shlock.

Giant bug movie, with a well cast Christopher Marquette as Cooper, an office employee who, upon being fired from his job, is knocked unconscious by an intense sound, finding himself(and everyone else)cocooned by large insects which use humans for sustenance(among other things). With a few awakened humans(including the pretty Brooke Nevin as Cooper's love interest, Sara), Cooper and company will join together in the hopes of finding out how to not only survive their current situation, but discover where the bug monsters come from and the means to kill them. Familiar and clichéd, but salvageable thanks to a sense of fun and entertaining dynamics between Marquette and Nevin(and, especially with military father Ray Wise). Marquette's character has no real direction in his life, no goals, and is kind of a loser, but, as expected, Nevin(a psyche major who is awakened thanks to her mom's insistence that Marquette find her and save her)warms up to him(as does the viewer because, as these movies often do, he becomes the unlikely hero who must find Nevin when she captured by the insects, finding herself inside the giant bug nest). Some of the visual effects are okay, better than usual for a sci-fi channel presentation. Of course, there's a nest, with a queen, where all the bugs congregate as to allow our heroes a chance to kill them all in an isolated location. Rounding out the cast is Kinsey Packard as Cindy, the blonde hot chick with designs on Cooper, Wesley Thompson as Albert, the mature black man who provides the group with an adult presence, E Quincy Sloan as Albert's son, Hugo(a strong, deaf mute), and Linda Park as Leechee, a smart massage therapist who decides to stay behind when the group sets out for Cooper's dad's house in order to awaken other humans cocooned. We see that the bugs stab humans in the lower back with their stingers and this, in turn, causes those victims to metamorphose into hybrid homosapien-insect creatures sprouting spider legs! I imagine INFESTATION would work well as a double(creature)feature with 8 LEGGED FREAKS.
