russells_teapot I'm almost tempted to call this the worst film I've ever watched. But I won't. Infestation is certainly feeding from the bottom of the barrel, but for reasons I can't explain it clings to me like a malnourished puppy and I can't bring myself to hate it.Casting is hit-and-miss. There are some reasonable performances to be found, the soldiers do quite well to come across as intended. As a comedy lead Ross Evison (Loki) does very well. Should 'a thrilling mix of science fiction, action and horror' have a comedy hero? Evidently so.Try to think of Infestation as a very poor (penniless) man's Evil Dead. Don't take it seriously. Appreciate it as a C-movie. Don't be surprised at the wobbly floating aeroplane. Nod along with the awkward dialogue. Allow yourself a laugh at the explosions that someone has quickly drawn with an airbrush tool on an outdated graphics program. Lose yourself wondering where the sides of the CGI buildings went during the flying car chase at the start. And when the end comes, try not to dwell too much on that agonising closing scene.Don't go out of your way to see it, but if a televised showing finds you on a cold evening, don't necessarily cast it away.
Neilos I don't quite know where to begin with this one - or what to rate it. Honestly, the film is absolutely appalling - the acting is probably the worst I've ever seen, and I've seen some shockers. The casting seems to have been done by a poorly-entered raffle. The script and dialogue is excruciatingly poor. And while some of the special effects are pretty good, parts are cringeworthy. If a failing first-year film student found a camera, a Soviet-era holiday camp and some am-dram stage props, they'd probably produce this. But it's hilarious. Whether accidentally or not, this produces more laugh-out-loud moments than most comedies. The characters are so ridiculous and mismatched and their deliveries so poor that they left me so entranced, I found myself forgetting to breathe at several points throughout the film. I was simultaneously willing it to end and praying they'd come up with an extra ten minutes. If you want a good film, this is certainly not for you, and if I'd spent more than GBP2 on it I'd probably cry. But this is at the very pinnacle of 'so bad it's hilarious', so if you see it in Poundland, you could do a lot worse.Have to give it a 1 because it truly is terrible... but terrible in a good way?
Mork_the_Borg Mmmmm... why do I keep doing this? Going to the video-store on Friday evening, and hoping to get my hands on a movie that's worthwhile. Surely this must be the worst movie I've seen in my entire life! I stopped the DVD after 10 minutes, as the complete lack of acting skills and story line was too much horror for me already. What a complete and utter waste of my energy and $4,50! I wouldn't watch this movie again, not even if they offered my a million to watch it! It's absolute 100% rubbish - go and make some real movies guys. We need some more talent in the movie industry, as I'm getting sick and tired of the stuff that's coming out right now.
cg_regan Ambitious British sci-fi/action/horror that is clearly reaching far beyond it's meagre budget, but is spirited enough to pull it off.Tells the story of a future where society now lives in huge underground cities. A group of soldiers are sent to investigate activity on the long dead surface, but find something far worse than they expected. It shows what you can do with no money and a lot of creativity and maybe if the British film industry actually funded projects like this we'd stand a better chance of making some half-decent films. The actors may not be perfect, the special effects not as flashy as we're used to in films of the genre but it's got an infectious enthusiasm and a lot of heart so gets full marks for effort.
