rocket-russ-83319 Having young sons, it's safe to say that Pixar's Incredibles was a staple movie that delivered many of the cartoon giant's trademarks; compelling storyline, social messages and a very balanced sense of humour that strikes a chord across all levels. This set the bar reasonably high for the arrival of the very long awaited sequel. Before it hit the screens, I wanted to love it. The trailers were reassuringly witty and there was hope that the cliffhanger from the first film would bring much more of the same. So what happened? Well it's with disappointment that I gave too say Pixar probably misfired on this very rare occasion. The plot was reasonably weak, literally dragged over the finish line. The "twist" was transparent and yet it took almost the while film to unravel. It feels like Pixar's script writers were absent when the comedy elements were forged and so most of the jokes were already broadcast in the trailers. The whole plot failed to muster anything more than mediocre pace as it meandered to a conclusion, leaving an empty feeling where the laughter and love of the latest Pixar production were meant to be. Small moments of mercy from Baby Jack-Jack offered just a glimpse of how the film should have felt, but this brand is far greater than a single character and so for the first time in the history of Pixar, I felt like I needed to jump out abs help push the movie to the final credits to put it out of its misery.
legalgal-1 I was THRILLED when I found out a sequel was finally being made. I was so excited! But when I saw this, I was really disappointed. The villain was telegraphed so much there wasn't any mystery to who it was. The same gags from the first one were used in this one, so there was no mystery, no surprise. The special effects for Frozone were fantastic, but.... yay. There wasn't anything different or even additional to his character. Jack-Jack was funny, but in a 2-plus-hour movie, there needed to be more laughs. Slow, boring, and nothing new. Maybe it's because I was expecting so much that I was so disappointed.
Gareth Crook Maybe not quite as good as the original, but still a lot of fun and just as well as they appear to be setting up a franchise (another one). It looks great of course, it's well written, lots of snappy action. The comedy is quite quirky though, aimed as much if not more so at the adults than the kids. Disney are clearly putting their moral stamp on things, equally opportunities, digital dependence, accepting all cultures, but hey that's all very good and it's delivered well. Certainly our kids got the message and were happy to explain it to me as the credits rolled. They also laughed uncontrollably at Jack-Jacks antics, we all did! Not quite Pixar at its very best, but very very close!
anh-94946 So first of the bad. The villain is nowhere near as good as Syndrome. Though they're still good enough they're kinda predictable. As for the rest of the movie... everything else is either on Parr with or better than the original. There's not much more to say except that I loved it. Incredibles 2 gets 95%
