Fritz Langlois
Well, I am a big Mocky fan and like to watch and own all of his films, but I could do without this one. Ther's nothing likable about this film (apart from its poster!). The characters all seem angry at each other (one feels the actors were too, especially Mocky himself and his then-girlfriend Laura Grandt). The settings are depressing (smalltown France, very colorless; I can't believe Raoul Coutard photographed this one.) Well, it is a story of (nudist) gangsters on a coup and on the run. Impossible to get involved with any of the characters or get interested the slightest bit about what happens on the screen. The sound is bad, the acting too (and aggressive)... Even Dominique Zardi, one of Mocky's recurring actors, is not to be seen anywhere... I guess he had read the script and kept away. There usually is something to enjoy in any Mocky film, even the bad or hastily made ones. I tend to like and find qualities to even his most obscure movies. But here I have to admit there's nothing to save from the wreckage... Next!
