In a dark place, where evil rules and every evil scientist has his own loyal hunchback servant (all called Igor), Igor, the main character is a bit different. He's a brilliant inventor, secretly working on numerous inventions which one day, hopefully, will make him famous. His big break comes out of nowhere, when his master is killed during a failed experiment. He decides to try to make what no evil scientist has done before: create life! That's where Eva comes is. Igor's lovely creation, opposite to what he wanted to achieve (an evil monster), is going to change his perspective on good and evil irreversibly. It's an interesting idea, although a bit simplistic, which unfortunately doesn't evolve in complexity during the film. It ends as easy as it started, with a very expected happy ending, no fuss and no tension whatsoever. It lacked intensity, it lacked drama, it lacked something very important, soul. Its animations aren't very good either. Although having a different way of creating its characters attracted my attention, its voice acting was horrible and some of the visual effects which were meant to impress, were far from something great.I tried to like it, with its ups and downs but it didn't work. Another average movie which will not be remembered soon, at least not by me.

The land of Malaria was once a sunny happy place, but then the sunny days ended. The economy collapsed and the king decided on a new economy of evil inventions. Igor (John Cusack) wants to be more than the stereotypical assistant to his worthless master Dr. Glickenstein (John Cleese). He wants to create his own evil inventions. The animation is bright despite the fact that the sun never shines. It's very cartoonish while trying to create some smarter material. The problem I had is that I didn't love the characters. I get the sarcastic spin on the traditional fantasy. It doesn't make them lovable. John Cusack just doesn't have the voice. It doesn't match the cartoon. While I understand that they intentionally created an opposite Igor, it's just hard to see Cusack in that role.

It's a shame that this little film did not receive the deserved acclaim. Anthony Leondis's 'Igor' may not tell a story that is completely original but it's a nice and fun adaptation of Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein'. It has all the ingredients of an amusing adventurous animation film. The atmosphere and colour created by the vivacious animation draws the viewer and the colourful characters keep one involved. The actors that include Steve Buscemi, John Cusack, Molly Shannon, Sean Hayes, John Cleese and Jennifer Coolidge, behind the voices of the characters do a remarkable job. Coolidge is particularly hilarious with her weirdly funny accent as Heidi. Writer Chris McKenna does a very good job in adapting the story and making it lighter in order for it to appeal to children as well. However, I must add that the film is targeted at the young adult audience than children because many of the jokes are for 'grown-ups'. That does not mean that children will have less fun. Even though McKenna has made some big changes from the original, the heart of the story pretty remains the same even though this one ends on a more positive note with a different message. However, perhaps as a result, the story sometimes lacked in depth and a few little things remained unexplored. Yet, this flaw is very minor and doesn't ruin 'Igor' from being wholesome family entertainment.

Igor relies solely on childish humor and sucky jokes. And most of the characters are annoying. Scamper, Brain, and The Orfans are the only characters I can stand. Igor is a child living in a grown man's body. The Jennifer Coolage character is just basically a talking background character as he never really does anything important to the plot. the Annie jokes later in the movie are mostly just filler material. And it's obsessed with Insaulting Apes much like Tak & The Power of Juju, Squrriel Boy, & The Mighty B!. In a scary scene I saw, That one Ape Robot or whatever that thing is said to the titled character (Igor) that He going to use his hump as a speed bump!' A different scene had The same Gorilla villain robot thing asking that Igor's master that he didn't create LIFE!!? I was not at all impressed with this that villain. The humor was juvenile, the characters are stupid, and the story completely predictable.BOO!!!!! FIN
