I didn't want to make a full-on comment enough as I don't have a deserving critic skill behind me, but having seen just seen this joyful and heartwarming tale and finding its accompanying IMDb page blank I just had to do something.Aiseu-keki (Ice Bar), in short, is the story of a young boy and his pal living out their summer vacation in 1960's South Korea. Our prepubescent protagonist, growing up alone with his mother, comes to discover the name and whereabouts of his until now absent father and soon his days become a quest for enough cash to catch a train to Seoul and meet him. There are a few touching side stories that follow along as well, including a jolly 'eggman' who the kids lovingly torment, and the teenage sibling employees of the ice bar factory owner.Often predictable but thoroughly enjoyable, Aiseu-keki is a kids film at heart with grown-up overtones and realities, definitely fit for family viewing, I wouldn't want to watch it any other way.
