For 70 minutes, a bunch of seemingly insignificant things happen like phones ringing and pies baking and cell phone chargers being missing and axes being shown, and you think to yourself, man it is going to be great when they tie all these things together into a shocking surprise ending! The surprise is that they actually were insignificant events, and that nothing frightening, tense, or remotely interesting happens at all. If they had have used any of the not-especially-creative plot turns that I imagined happening as I was watching, this movie could have had some redeeming value, like: The old lady is actually her in the future... She finds out she is pregnant again after her husband dies... The creepy realtor is in some kind of cult that looks to sell this house to turn the new owners into some kind of sacrificial offering. But alas it turns out that the only redeeming use for this film is to have something to recommend to someone who doesn't realize that you actually strongly dislike them. They will know once they watch, or they will no longer want to be friends with you for suggesting it.If you actually watched the movie and are only reading this after the fact, rate this review helpful if you found the review to be more entertaining than the movie itself.

House of Good and Evil is a definite must watch. I had not heard of the film before previewing but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Though the idea of a couple purchasing a house with secrets is not by any stretch of the imagination new, the writer and director proved to not disappoint. The writing is on par with an interesting story line and realistic characters. All too often characters in horror movies either seem cartoon-like or like parodies of characters from other films in the genre. It is refreshing to view a a film that is not only well-made but entertaining to watch.

After a family tragedy in the chaotic city, Chris and Maggie Conley, in a last-ditch effort to save their dying marriage, purchase an isolated home in the deepest woods, to which they quickly discover evil has a key. What do we have? A great looking picture, solid acting and plenty of atmosphere. And for what it's worth, the poster is wonderfully designed. So nice to see something artistic and not the same old tropes. The film is a bit of what you might call the "slow burn", not really picking up until about 53 minutes in (and then creating tension by using music derivative of ABC's "Lost" before slowing back down).Director David Mun has a long list of credits going back to 2001, mostly in technical categories (lighting and electrical). This is actually his directing debut, which makes it even more impressive.

This film is a complete failure in every respect, if you waste your time watching it you will wish you hadn't.I am a big horror fan so I was disappointed to find out there is absolutely no scares in this film whatsoever. The script is appalling, the storyline is a joke, the soundtrack is hopeless, the 'special effects' are joke shop quality and I honestly can't think of any redeeming features this film has. There are several parts where the music builds up and up as if something scary is coming....but nothing happens! I made the mistake of watching this film because some of the other reviewers seem to think it is worth watching and I feel conned-I honestly do. This is not the sort of film that could divide opinion in any way, it is just really, really bad and I cannot understand how anyone would honestly say otherwise. You have been warned.
