middendorffi There are tons of interlaced ideas feeding the mystery, and creating a fast speed sequences of events; however, most ideas by themselves seems too childish, which brainless people could barely believe. For instance, the lunar-suits that provide self-generated-gravity and create an invisible helmet to contain the oxygen, the flower's blue mobile roots, the mechanical T-Rex, the presence of "artificial" oxygen, the ridiculous idea that one could survive in void space by holding the breath, the stand-alone hands that could walk by walls like a fly (copied from Addams Family), and so on.The most believable element is the hidden gay Russian couple. They seem real, and their relationship fits perfectly with the events. The abrupt ending, leaving several things unexplained, is what I hate the most.
philipposathina actually with great effort after the first ten minutes. It was right then, that I realized it was intended to be a satiric film mocking the science fiction movies, and though I had already suspected that it was doing so in a most naive, awkward and uninspired way I thought I should give it the chance to prove that it was something better than this. Well I could stand it for another twenty minutes before deciding that I shouldn't add the cost of wasting my time to the cost of the renting fees I had paid for it. So I just gave it up! I am still trying to understand why this film was made. It is such a bore, such a senseless thing (I don't say "trash" out of respect for the makers who obviously had something different in mind when they went for it), such a cheap nonsense! Well, I may be naive and senseless myself and this may be the reason I cannot give it the credits some other viewers think it deserves presenting this crap almost as a masterpiece, yet, as a fanatic and experienced cinefil( movie fan),this is the last film I would ever recommend to you. Test me if you dare!
Demetre K. I generally avoid SyFy productions, and when I realized this movie was one of them I thought to myself, "ah no...." Surprisingly this was a pretty good production, one of the best SyFy has produced. A mixture of Film Noir, Buck Rogers, Toy Story, B movie all in one... The acting was simple, the plot was even simpler, the special affects were high school project level. Altogether the plot was questionable, but some of the plot choices the script writers made were really out of there, such as the totally unnecessary sex scene which added absolutely nothing to the plot and turned the movie from a G rated to a PG-13. In any case, I managed to watch the entire movie, I really got a good laugh out of the toy story dinosaur that was introduced towards the end of the movie... The end result was an entertaining fantasy comedy B movie which was watchable...
figarska From the first scene, I got the winks that director sent at us: This is a caper in genre of old space comedies and new/retro styling of Mad Men. You really have to have a sense of humor to enjoy it, and a good martini on your side table would not hurt either. The dialog dips into all rich clichés from detective noir flicks from 60's, then quotes the optimistic space "future" of 50's, only to let the plot twist its ankles on new age cynicism. I really think that at times that art of "quote" reached the level of Star Trek Next Generation scenes on Holodeck. I loved, loved, loved retro styling and settings! Practically every scene had a morsel for architects, interior and fashion designers, and movie critics with the eye on mid twenty century nostalgia. I loved that actors mostly embraced the new "old" style of dialog. I think that this movie will have a following, just like Serenity, so don't dis it yet. I gave it 8 for brave originality of trying to do exactly what it is supposed to do: entertain, and cut down on unnecessary heroics: I have already saved the word with my x-box, the day before. And yes, it calls for follow up series, so I really hope that networks will pick it up.
