I logged in for the first time here just to ballance an injustice. This movie deserves much more than this rating.I first read the User Reviews, then I crossed my fingers for Al Pacino and I clicked "Play". For me, the movie is in "I want more, I wish a few series of it" category. I have no idea why, I would say it's a movie for cat-lovers only, since it has such bad reviews, they may come from dog-lovers ... I took delight in many Al Pacino's replies, I will remember them as he told them, with his voice, with his accent ... The car races are not an important part of the movie, I remember no one of them, because the accent is on the action, not on the cars. The lady journalist is just a believer: you relate or not with her, any believing is a choice. I expected her to be more stupid (as any journalist character in such movies), bunt no, she is surprisingly decent. And yes, believers do exist, that's the realism of the movie. The cop played by Karl Urban is quite ok. No need for an acting to top Al Pacino's. It's not about the cop, it's about each of them: of course, they are not all seductive, the young people do not need seductiveness, the old one do: that's realistic too. The accent of the acting means nothing to me, since I am not an American. In the end, I thought: well, it may be like eating kidneys: some people adore them, some people can't stand them, but all cat lovers should keep some in their fridge. For me, the movie was "purrrfect" :)

My god this is a travesty. None of what happens would be acceptable on a real police force. Its all so immature as If no one...not even Pacino went over the script for inaccuracies. Dont get me started on the female ridealong....holy she would never happen. So much of this is flawed and I have 52mins left to watch. The script is so broken like stuff just happens but with no idea why or how or any backstory. Its just unreal...too unreal to be acceptable. The detectives are stupid, the darn forensic scientist is stupid... the only acceptable believable character is the captain.

I must admit ... tho I am a fairly big Karl Urban fan, I believe he AND Pacino were both just grabbing a paycheck here. The only decent acting job (besides the coroner), was turned in by Snow.
We have a serial killer that, for some reason (made clear with about 10 minutes left in the movie), likes to play the children's game "Hangman". This guy find more elaborate ways to do away with each victim, as the movie progresses. Yet, the detectives (Urban and his retired buddy-detective Pacino, who he asks to take a look at a victim, then ends up staying on til the end), and their tag-along reporter friend Snow (who freely walks all over crime scenes and handles evidence), cannot seem to come up with a clue about what is going on. I'm surprised they figured out the cases were all "connected" in the first place. You knew something was up when, just over half-way thru, they think the serial killer has killed himself, and they send Snow home to rest ... yeah, nothing wrong with THAT move!).
Sorry, but it's time for Pacino to hang 'em up. The hairstyles ment for 20 year olds and the very crappy make-up jobs cover up nothing anymore. And, his mumbling is getting terrible. Also, evidently, if you are gonna use Urban in a movie any time soon, please make sure you use vehicles big enough for him to climb in and out of, don't have him chasing 25 year olds in foot pursuit, AND, don't have him jumping on and off of sheds and fences over 3 feet high!
If you decide to watch ... make sure it is either "free", or out of Redbox. Do NOT pay that ridiculous $11 PPV charge to see it (on a certain MEGA cable company). Then, you won't be so disappointed.
