Set against the backdrop of a UNSC military academy, a group of highborn cadets are training to be the next generation of soldiers in the UNSC’s ongoing war with insurrectionists in the outer colonial planets. Among these cadets, Thomas Lasky struggles with his doubts about this war, and with the burden of expectations he may not be able to carry. As Lasky comes to terms with his potential as a military leader, the terrifying alien alliance known as the Covenant arrives and turns his world upside down. mohsenadam Waste of time! The worst and dumbest movie of its kind, I really don't understand how could this pathetic piece of film be rated above 1! The film is mediocre in all aspects! Please don't do the mistake and watch it. Acting is irrelevant, special effects are ridiculous, scenario leads to nowhere, plot is meaningless. There is nothing in this film that can justify watching it. My wife and me are totally disappointed that we wasted our time watching this film, and we are left with regrets only!
atlasmb I found this on Netflix as a 91 minute "movie". As a fan of the video game franchise, I decided to watch it. As always I will evaluate this film as independent of the source material, but I will include some notes about the games. The film starts fairly typically, following the progress of a group of young cadets at a military academy. They are training to do battle with "the Insurrectionists"--a group of "terrorists" who may just be outworld farmers rebelling against taxes.Thomas Lasky (Tom Green) is the central character--a cadet who sees himself as a pacifist and who has trouble living up to the legacy of his military family. But all of the cadets are untested and have no idea how they would react under real fire.Their ivory tower dedication to the cause is jarringly interrupted by an actual attack, but the invaders are like nothing they have ever seen. How can they survive against a superior force of aliens? The photography and the music are both excellent, immersing the viewer into a dynamic and sometimes spooky conflict. But the story is disjointed, with significant parts left unexplained. The actors, though young, become believable as the action unfolds.I cannot give this film a good score, due to the deficiencies in the story. But I can recommend the film to anyone who loves the games, like I do. What fun to see the Master Chief come to life, to see great depictions of the warthog, the grunts and weapons like the needler. The various members of the Covenant, though only briefly depicted in some cases, were a joy to see.
alindsay-al For years now I have been arguing that a Hollywood halo film must happen but when it does I hope it doesn't have anything like the rubbish in this film has. This film focuses on cadet Thomas laskey as he trains to be a member of the unsc until due to unforeseen circumstances he meets the master chief and his life is thrown upside down. Now I have never ever seen the kid who played laskey and I never want too again because he sucked in this film. He wasn't really helped by some awful writing and cliché scenes but that is not enough of an excuse for the bad acting. The rest of the cast are also unknowns and you get every cliché characters ever and none of them stand out at all. The only positive acting wise is the guy in the master chief armour who was perfect in the role and was easily the best part in the film as the chief should be. Now the story is a straight rip off of starship troopers and was not done anywhere near as well as enders game, you will not care about any of the cadet characters at all. The worst part of this is that the film focuses on the cadets instead of the chief which angers me so much as a hardcore halo fan. The script sucks with all the dialogue and situations being really wooden and weak plus you have literally seen them all before. Now the style of the film is really cool with the covenant and chief looking fantastic also all the weapons and sound are right out of the games and one of the reasons this film didn't get an even lower score. Overall this film is really poor and even if you are a halo fan it is not worth the time.
antonnilsson4 There is a guy who don't really wants to be a solider. He gets sick and the movie ends. This was one of the most boring movies that i've ever watched. And yes I've played the game. i cant see how this could have 7.2 in ratings right know. 4 or 5 times I wanted to stop the movie. The story really sucks, and the movie is so unbelievable slow. I can't believe that I watched the hole one. Nothing is happening, there's a war but you almost never See anything about the war? And the love between these 2 guys, why even have it there? Come on! I would never recommend this movie to anyone. Save your time and look at another movie instead.
