I am watching this movie after 5 years. Somehow, th topic of a paraplegic seemed dark and depressing and therefore I avoided watching this movie. But this movie is not about pontificating on paraplegics. It is about the best looking actor in Mumbai coming on his own in a role that celebrates a once great life and now remains a pale shadow of his great past - and suffers immensely while fighting through his day to day challenges, being dependent on someone. I salute Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aishwariya and most importantly Hrithik for his best role ever. Overall the movie grabs your attention for the entire run and one feels that there could have been a little more definition around the Siddiqui character and his father. Highly recommended.

when i saw it thought it was original and brilliant in concept, but later realized its a copy of Spanish movie "the sea inside", for which it won Oscar..!!!though the acting is good, the cast seems to have justice to the movie, but its only the 1st concept which deserves true respect and applause.sanjay Leela bhansali, has clearly displayed his talent for direction, execution, but originality is what people crave for, not the presentation of the already presented.we hope that the team comes with better concepts and story, for sake of the audience and film fraternity.

I heard from a lot of people that this movie was not entertaining and boring, but I still went ahead and watched the movie and let me tell you this I DON'T REGRET IT. This is one of the movies that I'll never forget in my life. I mean the acting by Mr. Roshan is speechless. People who say that movies are suppose to be entertaining, well I think movies can also be used as a tool to teach people about what's going on around the world. This movie has really touched my heart. After watching this movie, my respect level for Mr. Roshan has increased. There were some moments which brought tears in my eyes and made me thank god for being able to move on my own and get the things done on my own. People who thought that Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali was done after making Saawariya, well this is the movie that shut many people's mouth. Movies can never be judged by the box office success, but the impact that they have on people. And this movie had a huge huge impact on me. I wish I could meet Mr. Roshan in person just so I could congratulate him for the performance in this movie. This movie is for really open minded people, and for those who want a movie that can teach them something or a movie that can touch their heart. I rate this movie 10 out 10. I wish I could give 100 out of 10.

The summary of this movie is quite self explanatory so no further explanation is necessary on my part. After reading the reviews provided by many, I realized OMG did I miss something from this movie? Were there other films similar to this one and why didn't I watch it before? There lies no doubt this movie presents a version of a sensitive matter of life and if one would imagine, the sensitivity and beauty of death. This aspect lies in the eyes of the beholder and their soul spirit. It made me asses my own wellbeing ~ how would I handle such a life of a quad after experiencing a physical life fulfillment (depended upon one's life) and having to see it over and over and over as memory, never refreshing, never having the ability to go further and experience the beauty surrounding ones self. Magic is no longer a comfort and reality takes its place.I believe the director's intent was for the viewer to think for themselves...to keep it open for interpretation for all cultures. This movie is exceptional. It amazed me how much can be said without being spoken. How much can be felt without music or dance. And how a soul is tormented until blessed by undying love, or one's interpretation of undying love.Location of this movie....oh gosh....magnificent! Lead Roles: Fusion surpassed! HR and AR have always been explosive in their various roles together. They bring their characters to realism. This is the second film I've seen where neither were dancing together. Singing yes but not dancing. Both are SEASONED actors and Bollywood is fortunate to have them. HR showed great depth in this role which I'm sure he did a lot of research. On a personal note, he sang one of my favorite songs so beautifully...it made me cry because I could feel Ethan's soul...it tore me apart! As for AR ~ Elegance in simplicity. She did a superb job of hiding her inner feelings...yet you knew they were there...unspoken yet delivered. I would say the same for HR.Supporting Roles: Superb job! Bottom line I wanted to kill the judge and prosecutor. They irritated me to no end! Music: Beautiful once I obtained the English translation. Its mesmerizing. "Udi" is my wake-up song...it gets me into the spirit of the day.Recommendation: See it, make your own assumptions, which I'm sure will be different from mine. Its an awaking to say the least! This movie is part of my library...a classic for all time, not just for the moment.Sad Thought: This should have been selected as movie and actor(s) of 2010 at Filmfare as well as an Oscar. HR did a superb work on this film and deserved such recognition.
