I honestly would have never watched this movie based on the ratings but since I am a big Olga Kurylenko fan I had the ''duty'' to give it a try. Honestly coming from such low expectations Gun Shy wasn't bad. It is not the funniest or smartest movie, but I have to at least give the movie some credit because everyone seems to only see its flaws. There are ridiculous moments, but at least the movie is self-aware and doesn't try to be anything that is not. I even enjoyed the main character played by Banderas, I honestly thought he was gonna be a stereotypical douche bag ,but it wasn't the case. Maybe if this movie came 15 years ago it would have been received better. There are much worse comedies with higher ratings out there for sure.

GUN SHY is an appallingly unfunny British comedy, shot in Chile with ageing action star Antonio Banderas. It was made by Simon West, who did a much better job of the same year's STRATTON. The film takes the form of an extremely broad comedy, with Banderas apparently channelling Johnny Depp by playing an ageing rock star called into action when his wife is kidnapped while on a trip to Chile. Olga Kurylenko co-stars, and really must be having a word with her agent for landing her in films like this. Banderas staggers and saunters his way through the film and occasionally sings, but none of it is funny, just cringe-worthy. There's no action here, just silly, over-the-top and mannered acting and waste of time plotting. I hated every minute of it.

Antonio Banderas is terribly miscast as an aging British rocker, who had a part time accent. While vacationing in Chile, his wife Sheila (Olga Kurylenko) is kidnapped by a group of fishermen looking to get some money for their poor village. The million dollar ransom is not the issue if they can get the inept US government representatives from interfering.Banderas plays for a group called "Metal Assassins" with their hit song "Teenage A** Patrol." They didn't even try to make it sound good. The film had some funny moments, but was mostly smile funny with overused beer humor.Guide: Brief swearing and nudity. Sex talk.

Reading the summary and seeing the reviews, I didn't think this movie would be great. I checked it out simply because Antonio Banderas has done some really great work in the past. I understand that his movies aren't all outstanding but I figured he could carry it if he had to...I was mistaken. This movie was just plain bad. From the plot being laughably thin, the acting completely lacking, the ridiculous stereotypes and last (but certainly not least) the awful singing from Banderas, this movie was just one long cringe. I am not usually this harsh on most of my reviews but this one definitely deserves the rating I gave it.
