GRADE: BTHE FILM IS RECOMMENDED.JIM'S REVIEW: A best-selling author, a gossip columnist, a sex-starved divorcee, and a loud raucous friend reunite with hopes of rekindling their friendships in the highly successful and profitable Girls Trip. The comedy was critically acclaimed, with talk of possible Oscar nominations, which never materialized (nor should it had). The film provides many laugh-out-loud moments and it is a raunchy time, but hardly original. Too often the movie follows its well worn formula with various results, all of which are predictable fare. Much will depend on your liberal sense of humor due to many of the R-rated situations and dialog. The film is capably directed by Malcolm D. Lee and the screenplay by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver keeps the comic interludes coming at a fast pace. The obvious plot revolves around a hard-working nurse and mother who does not have much of a social life and an Oprah wannabe who is much too accepting of her philandering husband's escapades with his gorgeous mistress. This irritates their other girlfriends who decide to join forces in an effort of unitarity and sisterhood and bond on a trip to New Orleans where, of course, they meet many studs and have sex along the way.The actress all have their memorable moments. Queen Latifah is the solid dependable friend, Regina King brings the drama, Jada Pinkett Smith morphs from typical wallflower to beautiful butterfly, but it is newcomer Tiffany Haddish who steals the show with her outrageous hi-jinks and line delivery (much as Melissa McCartney did in Bridesmaids...a better film with the same "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" premise.) Girls Trip is just that...fun, nothing more.

These girls, I'd rather be drunk and peed on than high and dead.Girls Trip has Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith while Rough Night has Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Kate McKinnon.Regina is gonna write a tell all book about me, get all preachy on me and boss me around, threaten to fight me, cut, tenderize and slice off my sausage but she might get wasted and come on to me too plus she may even give me a goodnight kiss.Tiffany is gonna get me drunk, high, and have me hallucinating, holler and scream at me and make a scene, try to cut me with a broken bottle and slap me, pee on me, violate me and my banana, poop in my shoe, flash me her pastied boobies, get freak nasty on me and give me chlamydia but that can be cured and I might get her pregnant plus she prays.Queen Latifah is gonna blog about my genitals and create memes of me in diapers, get my car towed, pile dirt up on me and trash my name and reputation, not talk to me for 5 years but that happens plus I really, really love her blonde so she might nibble on my thumb or maybe mistake me for a lamp. And Jada is gonna be a party pooper and high maintenance, dress like an old Guatemalan lady, pee on me too, burn my pee pee hole with grapefruit juice and she's probly gonna mace me but she's very sweet plus she might show camel toe.Regina Hall is so beautiful and hilarious and I really love her, I love Tiffany a lot, I love pretty Queen, and Jada is on fire. I love Girls Trip. Girls Trip is better and funnier than Rough Night but I love them both. Thank you and check out my Rough Night review. It's the same thing, it's not funny or anything.

I LOVE films, and always try to see the best in every film but absolutely nothing could redeem this utter piece of garbage. It did nothing for black women, it just made them look like foul-mouthed nut jobs. So stereotypical, it just made me cringe all the way through it. What was anyone trying to prove?? Anyone claiming to like this film must be on drugs. I think most of the positive reviews are fake, it just isn't possible that any human being with a half-decent brain could say this film was even slightly funny or entertaining.
