J_Charles A good children's movie would be fast moving, with an engrossing story, interesting characters, great animation or effects, and some plot points/one-liners/devices aimed at the parents with "a nudge and a wink".G-Force is fast moving, but the rest of my criteria? Strikes out on all accounts despite trying very hard. It's guinea pig characters are caricatures - the 'street-wise' homeboy voiced by Tracy Morgan, the alluring, mysterious femme fatale voiced by Penelope Cruz, and "Darwin" the all-American hero (in guinea pig form). Throw in all the stereotypical sidekicks and there you have it.The story involves appliances going rogue and destroying the world. The only ones who discovered the plan are the guinea pigs and they spend the rest of the movie proving their worth vs the human FBI agents and the bad guys. The 'adult' humour was dialed way too low to teen level. Hearing a guinea pig say "Shizzle" does not amount to comedy for most adults. The kids probably won't get it either. So who is that for? The pre-teens who'll be avoiding this movie like the plague? Big miss.5/10 for trying so hard.
FilmFanatic03 What a great film! I was expecting the cheesiest film mankind has ever seen but the reason why i saw it anyway was because it has guinea pigs in! But i was pleasantly surprised as it wasn't that cheesy, and the cheesy bits were a fun cheesy, not a cringe cheesy. I loved how they made a films about Guinea pigs into an action film. I think it's for the whole family to watch and enjoy. Of course there is nothing offencive in this film since the primary target audience are kids so that was a great bonus. The Guinea pigs have adult voice which normally never works on a animal movie because it spoils their cuteness but the Guinea pigs were still cute. I love this film, i think it's worth the watch and you can make your decision but for me i'm going to say it is a fun movie, not Oscar worthy, but still a great film!
ajs-10 Maybe it's because I'm male and still connected with the child inside, I don't know, but I just like movies made for children. There's something about a simple plot, uncomplicated characters and a happy ending that just appeals to me for some reason. But I digress; we're here to talk about a bunch of CGI rodents.A crack team of specially trained guinea pigs, Darwin, Juarez and Blaster, along with their tech guy, a mole called Speckles are on a mission. They have to infiltrate the home of electronics magnate Leonard Saber and steal secret files from his computer. The files reveal that there is a real threat to national security and the clock is ticking. When they go to show the information to the FBI, things go wrong and it all culminates in the withdrawal of funding for the program. This leaves the head of the program, Ben, a human, trying to persuade the FBI about the treat as the animals escape. They make it to a pet shop where they meet another guinea pig called Hurley and a hamster with an attitude called Bucky. Can the animals escape capture and make it back to Ben in time to save the day? Well, you guessed it; I'm not going to tell you right now.Quite a well made film with some nice CGI creatures. I find that giving human attributes to animals never really works, but it's something Disney has been persisting with for many years. Honourable mentions to the voice talents of Sam Rockwell as Darwin, Jon Favreau as Hurley, Nicolas Cage as Speckles, Penélope Cruz as Juarez, Steve Buscemi as Bucky and Tracy Morgan as Blaster. And the humans, Bill Nighy as Leonard Slater, Will Arnett as Kip Killian, Zach Galifianakis as Ben and Kelli Garner as Marcie. There were one or two good jokes, but not a great deal to make the adult audience laugh. I thought the best scenes were in the pet shop. It's one of those kind of OK films that you could quite happily have on in the background to keep the kids entertained, but not one I'd go out of my way to see again. Over all, not really recommended, but maybe a bargain bin DVD purchase to entertain the youngsters. My score: 5.3/10
glove27 Few words come to mind while trying to write about this particular piece of cinema. This is quite possibly the effect of actually watching the unfortunate burlesque that was G-Force. I will admit to having seen this movie under duress and out of obligation, which likely will have decreased the potential for enjoyment.A kid's movie isn't always meant to be a meaningful work of cinematic art. However, filling children with this meaningless dribble will lead more towards the stupid and thoughtless society of George Orwell's 1984. This movie had a budget of over 80 million dollars and more than tripled that in gross revenue. What does this say about today's society? It points towards a general decline of intelligence and as well as a decline in the ability to discern between that which is worthwhile and that which is detrimental. My last complaint is the music choice. Someone got paid too much for finding the songs featured. I could have saved them money and just directed them to billboard's hot 100. The music was an obvious and shameful attempt at pulling in the masses of popular media controlled adolescents.I want nothing further to do with this morbid bit of refuse.
