stwmby The worst film I've ever had to sit through? Well, it's up there with the worst. An unpleasant, shallow film about unpleasant shallow people living miserable lives. This film goes nowhere; it has no plot to speak of, other than to depict the desperately sad marriages of a group of spoilt shallow Americans. Aren't films supposed to entertain? This piece of miserable rubbish certainly didn't. The only thing I got from this mess was a better understanding of why Jennifer Anniston no longer gets any decent film roles.A pointless piece of self-indulgent garbage. Avoid.
jennystanley-15016 It just didn't really go anywhere?? I gave this a chance and just when I thought "I wonder where this is going" it ended. Still baffled!
HotToastyRag The title serves as the film's warning: this is about rich people with rich-people-problems. Three girlfriends have all of life's advantages, but still they're unhappy. Frances McDormand, in a frighteningly realistic performance, is angry at unfairness in the world. Joan Cusack is afraid her grammar school son might be gay. Catherine Keener bickers with her husband. To less affluent moviegoers, these couples seem impossible to relate to. Enter the fourth friend: a low-class housecleaner who smokes pot, steals expensive moisturizer for self-pedicures, and calls her married ex-lover at home. Believe it or not, that fourth friend is played by Jennifer Aniston, who gives a surprisingly good performance.Through Aniston's character, audiences are given permission to resent the wealthy Friends with Money, and at the same time, wonder what problems they might have if they belonged to that echelon. This is not an uplifting movie, and if you're already in a depressed mood, I wouldn't really recommend it. However, I own this movie, so I obviously like it enough to watch it over and over. Give it a try, when you're not already terribly blue, and see if you like it.
leplatypus With its poor poster and a such stupid title, i was reluctant to watch it but i tried it anyway : as usual my instinct was right as it's a bad movie. For 90 minutes, nothing happened and the biggest thrill was maybe a broken nose ! It's not a surprise with this movie trend of having several couples mixed together because except adding up stars, they fail every time to have something to say : it's all the more disappointing the 4 couples are well stuffed : Jennifer Aniston, Joan Cusak, Drago's father and Frances : But, frankly, all the clichés about relationships are told without originality : sex life, money, miscommunication, failed stories, getting lost or getting done… The only funny moments are the after parties when each one tells bad things about the others which is something true ! But with Frances being one more time grumbling and the absurd romance of Jennifer, this awful movie just lacks everything !
