enigmiqueas It isn't Sci-Fi at all. There's plenty of talk of aliens, and it has a fun creepy feel to it, but this film is about mental illness, delusion, and personal growth. By halfway through you should be seriously doubting whether the whole thing is her delusion, and by the end there should be little doubt in your mind that it is, even without the final scene where she decides to leave her delusion behind. There's definitely a low-budget feel to it, and the acting is hit-and-miss (i thought there were some nice moments), but overall this is a great film. Oh and it's worth mentioning that this is one of the few films available that not only has a female lead, but most of the supporting roles are female too - refreshing.
the_bernie Faron Hallowell (Courtney Halverson) is about to be released from a mental institution. It seems that when she was 11 she shot a weatherman (the T.V. type, not political) and nearly killed him. Watching the film we find that she was under the impression that she was fulfilling a part of guardian assistance is subduing rowdy aliens. Of course we all know that is impossible. Now all she wants to do is pursue a normal life and put all that behind her.It appears that the past will not stay the past; the most innocuous actions on the part of kids and authorities are weaving a pattern that we as observers cannot keep up with even with a bevy of clues.I kept looking around corners and just waiting for "teenagers from space." Of course there is always the possibility that it is just freaky Faron. The film ends way too soon and the results cause us us to do a little or our own Introspection.
Snodawg13 I watched this on Netflix because I thought it might be something to fall asleep to. Right away it grabbed me and kept me wanting more. If you like TV shows like Goosebumps and Twilight Zone then you might like this. It's a Sci-Fi low budget story. If you are looking for a blockbuster then this isn't for you. It's more ABC Family Channel or Nickelodeon. I would love to see a sequel but I doubt it would happen. I like how the characters were very low key. Keeping with the secret agent type story. Courtney Halverson does a great job. The only downside to this screenplay was the lack of background info on the mothers relationship with her. It looks as though John Ross reached his limit with this movie unfortunately.
Yolose Just saw this movie. The acting was good, the plot boring, and where was the suspense, thriller, or horror in this movie. It seems to have been made as a TV movie for the ABC Family channel, or Disney channel. A very safe movie. Courtney is a very good actress, she moved the movie along, but deserves a better vehicle and scrip. I can not say more without giving away the ending, but there were so many holes in the plot, and not believable situations, that it was hard to even suspend disbelief. For an after school movie might have been nice, but the synopsis, and other comments supporting this movie on Netflix were misleading. I was hoping to see something scary, or suspenseful, instead, I was wishing for the movie to end.
