POGO (PogoNeo) The first movie was a serious psychological dystopia on the topic of dehumanization, in particular of an inmate and in general of the society; that unfortunately after the first half had this very noticeable transition, ending with a rather disappointing finale in a style of B class action movies. And that shift was so profound, that even the (not so great) music (greatly) matching what was shown on the screen was practically removed during that transition, only to come back when the more action oriented last quarter of that first movie have startedAnd with this sequel, they took a practically different approach. The music is even worst and does not evoke any feelings in conjunction with the on screen events. Also the dystopic ingredient is somewhere in the back while the action is more in the front. But aside from the opening scene, the rest is coherent; unlike in the first picture of this duology. So if the viewer will enjoy the first 10-20 minutes (once the action is placed in the prison), then this joy will last to the end; unlike in the first picture of this diptychYes- there are plot holes and behaviors illogical to some extent, that normally would disqualify any movie from taking it serious. But that is the whole point- if you do not take it seriously, just in the terms of action comedy and not a drama, you will simply enjoy it. There are numerous great and funny moments, like when a female co-pilot is apparently learning how to dock under the supervision of the experienced male pilot. Both those characters are played absolutely great, especially given that the male pilot has only few spoken lines and the co-pilot only has one. Also, one of the characters from the hero's team of escapees that has a damaged brain is portrayed with such a craft, that he just makes the hero of the story look somewhat bleakAside from the cheap special effects and story that has only traces of being complex, this is a great entertainment. It is somewhat similar in style to the new "Mad Max: Fury Road" (2015): in that when put on paper it seems stupid and boring; but when put all together and presented on the screen, it is just so damn entertaining (and positively different from previous installments)
Thanos Karagioras "Fortress 2" is the sequel of "Fortress" and it has to do again with the Fortress but in this movie we are seven years after and Brennick and his family are still on the run from the Men-tel corporation. A group of rebels attempt to gain his support but he refuses because he wants to focus on his family. In a raid Brennick with some rebels are captured and they sent to a new more sophisticated fortress prison in outer space. But Brennick will not give up because he wants to get back to Earth where his son is.I liked this movie but not as much as the first one. I also liked again the interpretation of Christopher Lambert but I think that it was not enough for this movie.
Paul Magne Haakonsen Alright I have just revisited the 1992 "Fortress" movie on TV and immediately after they showed the 2000 "Fortress 2: Re-Entry" movie, so I sat through it as I haven't seen that before, much less even being overly familiar with it.I will say that this sequel is basically just a re-invention of the first movie, and as such it is a totally unnecessary movie in itself. It is basically everything that happened in the first movie, except that the sequel takes place on a Men-Tel facility orbiting planet Earth. Yeah, that is how brilliant the writers behind "Fortress 2" were; just take part one and re-write parts of it and change the location of the Men-Tel Corporation's facility. The story takes place seven years after John and Karen Brennick managed to flee the Men-Tel Corporation high security prison in the first movie, and they are living in a remote area, constantly on the run from Men-Tel. And apparently they have been helping some kind of underground resistance group to thwart the work of Men-Tel. But Men-Tel catches up with them and captures John, bringing him to a new prison facility...Alright, lots of similarities to the first movie, as I stated above. But there is one major flaw in the movie, it takes place seven years after the first movie, but for some reason the Brennick son is ten years old, although he was born at the end of the first movie. That was just a hilarious mistake. And the scene where John Brennick was outside in space in a jumpsuit only, without a proper space suit or an oxygen tank was just painful to watch; it was insulting to anyone with just an ounce of intelligence, as it was so unrealistic and silly.I found this sequel to be an unnecessary movie, especially if you have just seen the first movie or if you are just even familiar with the story of the first movie. However, if you watch "Fortress 2: Re-Entry" without having seen the first movie, then this sequel is actually an alright movie. The first "Fortress" movie was mediocre, but this shameless rip-off and re-invention of the first movie that passes as a sequel is just a step downward, in both enjoyment and story."Fortress 2: Re-Entry" doesn't even boast any impressive acting performances as the first movie did. There was no actors or actresses to match the performances of Jeffrey Combs or Kurtwood Smith from the first movie. I am not personally a fan of Christopher Lambert's acting skills, so there weren't any great performances that stood out in "Fortress 2: Re-Entry".This movie doesn't offer anything great in any way thinkable, and I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. I guess if you are a big fan of Christopher Lambert, then the movie will have any worth to watch, otherwise, then it is just not really worth the effort. In my opinion, this movie should never have made it off the drawing board.
The-Evil-Dead Well, lets be honest here, the first Fortress movie was nothing too special even though it was directed by Stuart Gordon and featured some excellent cheese filled moments. You may think that the craptacular enjoyment provided by the first movie would translate over to the lower budgeted, even more b sequel.Sadly I was totally wrong with this assumption.Things just happen in this movie... There's really no effort by the script or director to give us any characterization. We're stuck with " Brennick is in prison, now he must bust out " as soon as the movie starts. There's plot holes galore, stupid scenes, and some terrible special FX.Lambert must have been really hungry for the fifty or so grand he was paid to do this train wreck.I'm a fan of cheeseball, low budget films... But they have to at least be entertaining in some form or another to be enjoyable to me. There are a few moments like that found in this film, but unless you want to see how NOT to make a movie, don't bother with this one.1 out of 5.
