Synopsis

One by one, a flock of small birds perches on a telephone wire. Sitting close together has problems enough, and then comes along a large dopey bird that tries to join them. The birds of a feather can't help but make fun of him - and their clique mentality proves embarrassing in the end.

Reviews

mihai_chindris Apart from being such an amusing and funny short, it teaches us something. We don't let all people in our circles . We surround ourselves with the ones that are "likeable" and pleasant to be with. Well, there's another story in this movie, but you get the point. Many people come and go, and it's becoming harder and harder to make a selection of the ones that you want to spend time, have fun, and be with.
Neil Welch A number of mean spirited little birds sit on a telegraph line trying to prevent a big, clumsy, good natured bird from joining them. This is the Pixar short which accompanies Monsters Inc. Retooled, like the main feature, into 3D, this remains just as funny as it was on original release. It is difficult to believe that so much character and communication is achievable in this small blue spiteful balls of feathers, but then one remembers how human they managed to make a metal box with a pair of binoculars on top in WALL-E.The 3D, though not flashy, works well in this very funny, and highly recommended, short film.
Lee Eisenberg I remember that "For the Birds" preceded "Monsters Inc." in the theater. I laughed out loud as those ornithological dopes thought that they owned the world until the big guy unintentionally taught them a lesson! It just goes to show that Disney may have hit a big slump throughout the '80s and '90s - turning classical stories into overstuffed musicals - but their alliance with Pixar has produced some really neat work. All in all, this is one that you're sure to love. Among other things, it reminds us that birds are a most unique kind of animal (even when portrayed in cartoons). Really good.
patrick_dunne A bunch of similar-looking birds are hanging out on a wire. Then, an odd-looking bird drops in. The similar-looking birds make fun of him, and...they get what they deserve.Like "Knick Knack" and just about every other Pixar short, "For the Birds" has no dialog, but isn't silent. It has some "cute" squeaky sounds that the birds make, and some rather funny sounds that the odd bird makes. I suppose this contributes to all the funny goofiness.I must say, For the Birds is better than most short films out there. I remember being pretty young, and going to a short film festival. For the Birds was number ten, and that was the only one I was looking forward to. The rest seemed offensive, boring or way too long for a "short" film.Well, in closing, For the Birds is one of the funniest short films ever made. Compared to other short films, I suppose this one ranks as...8.5/10Feel free to send me a Private Message regarding this comment.
