I will not lie, I had very high expectations from this movie! The beautiful cinematography, scenic beauty of Kashmir and Amit Trivedi's music had me bewitched. Also, it was said to be based on Great Expectations, a classic (which I am yet to read). It had all the market and publicity of a great movie but it turned out to be opposite.I did not have great expectations from the lead actors but the movie as a whole disappointed me at another level. It became unbearable to watch after 1 hour. The story line had no new element, girl and boy are friends, boy obsesses over girl and of course there is class difference. But love triumphs all and voila! we have a happy ending. I was hoping for more background story in the movie apart from the 'fairy tale romance' they were trying to show. The trailer showed the male protagonist shouting slogans about Kashmir, and as the story was set in Kashmir, I was hoping to see some conflict or political warfare. But the hero just wanted to grab attention of the love of his life and screamed those lines for no reason! Last movie that I saw which was set in Kashmir was Haider and it was also based on a classic. I loved Haider and I was hoping for a similar reaction for Fitoor. But it failed badly on every aspect. I did not keep very high hopes from the lead cast: Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor. Katrina, for all the beauty she stands for, can not act. Aditya Roy Kapoor was better than her but not up to the mark. For a great love story that Fitoor was aiming to be, there was lack of chemistry between the leads. Even Tabu, the veteran actress was being overly dramatic in some scenes. Kashmir is indeed beautiful but I did not understand the need to add fake snowfall in the last scene. I mean 'please do not spoil the natural beauty by adding your 'creative ideas.' The music of the movie was great. Soulful songs from the maestro Amit Trivedi also could not make the movie work. Please do not waste your precious time on Fitoor!

Fitoor is based on Charles Dickens "The Great Expectations" which focuses on 2 lovebirds from different statuses, Pip and Estella. Although I haven't read the book but I did a lot of research and according to my research, nothing in the movie had anything to do with Dicken's book. Below average screenplay with lack of narratives. Abhishek Kapoor failed in the aspect of making a romantic film although I liked Rock On and Kai Po Che. Dialogues were very cheesy especially when they were said by Adi such as "Doodh mangoge toh kheer deynge, Kashmir mangoge, toh cheer deynge". I completely didn't understand what he meant by that statement when confessing his love to Firdaus. There are minor positives in the film such as the cinematography work done by Anay Goswamy. I liked the camera-work he did for Kashmir and the way he shot it. Amit Trivedi managed to deliver good songs for this movie as well as the background score. Overall, this movie wasted potential with a flat script and terrible acting done by Adi and Kaif despite the good cinematography and music. I would recommend you that this is not a good way of spending Valentines Day at the cinemas.

Fitoor, based on the popular Charles Dicken's novel "The Great Expectation" , was an emotional love story that could have been crafted better but unfortunately was mowed down by weak direction and poor script. What could have profound impact but turned to be a big boring flick.Fitoor tells the story of of 3 people – Noor (played by Aditya Roy Kapoor) who falls in love with his muse (played by Tabu)'s daughter Firdaus (played by Katrina Kaif) in his childhood. As they grow up, Noor becomes more obsessed with Firdaus and is willing to do anything to get her. However, Begum, who is broken-hearted from a failed marriage, plots a retribution on their love story. Now , I have been a big fan of "The Great Expectations" and adore the characters of Pip and Estella ( respectively played by Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif) and was expecting the same heart- warming, emotional touching love story this time. To my surprise, I was disappointed with this film. The third attempt by Abhishek Kapoor after Rock On and Kai Po Che, Fitoor could have made you laugh, cry, thrilled, excited and inspired but is welcomed by a saddened script. Even though Abhishek Kapoor had wonderful story to tell, but the lethargic pace and superficial drama could not salvage the film from falling into the pit. There is no chemistry between Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif except for their lip-lock. Whenever they meet, it always seems so over the top. I like the enigmatic cinematography(Anay Goswamy) capturing the essence of Kashmir embedded with fantastic art direction (Mayur Sharma).Never the less , the film is full of loopholes and boring drama which sometimes makes you scratch your hair. Background score and editing is decent. Both Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are hopeless. I wish, casting some strong performers would have made the film watchable. The only silver lining in this dull film is superb acting by Tabu. She gets into the character of depressed and disturbed old lady. Watch for her where she ask her daughter if she wants to be like her mother marrying a person beneath her status. Another highlight of the film is the soulful music by Amit Trivedi. So , overall , a golden opportunity gone wasted . Rather than concentrating on making the film look good, Abhishek Kapoor could have made sincere efforts in the direction and screenplay area

As soon as I realized it's an Abhishek Kapoor's film, my hopes raised. But the movie was worse than its trailer. It is very slow but has a calm flow. The focus is harshly on love story only and nothing else. In fact there isn't anything else that's thought of. It's boringness often becomes killing. Second half tries to save it a little and hints some potential turner. However it boils down to the same uninteresting plate.Abhishek Kapoor was a disappointment this time. I've stayed biased on him for so many years because of Rock On. His effortless performance is really disheartening. He was never able to bring the pieces together. All the actors were below average and not worth mentioning. They were confused whether to act starry or be down to earth. There wasn't even a scene where the acting could be appreciated.Amit Trivedi's soulful music was good sometimes but it lacked variety. May be he didn't get a variety in the storyline to perform inline.Overall, a mere love story, that wasn't garnished by anything else.
