A wonderful film that is loosely based on a real story of an ordinary family that starts to rob banks. Falla vackert is the story about an ordinary Swedish family that lives in the country in the house of their dreams. The father is an unemployed actor and the mother works with old people and they have three children so they are in an economic situation that does not work. The house is, besides their family, the most important thing in the world. When the bank starts to get cold feet and wants them to sell the house they are starting to get desperate. It has gotten quite bad reviews in Swedish media and i think there are two reasons for this. The first one is that you can see in the film that it is low budget. Some scenes could have been retaken and small details in the film are not as perfect in the latter part of the film as they are in the beginning. The biggest reason for the bad reviews is probably not that but rather the films way to focus on human relations (in a Pedro Almodóvar way)without leaning on them to move the story forward. This is quite unique. This uniqueness could make the film appear unfocused at first until you get the hang of it. The only other film that i know of that does that is "Den enfaldige mördaren", a film that also got bad reviews for a start but now is considered a gem among Swedish films. I really hope that is what will happen with Falla Vackert. A film this great does not deserve being forgotten.

I watched the DVD today. Since I didn't know anything about the movie everything was new to me, and in whole the movie felt like a very positive surprise. The story is about a family, where the man and wife work as actors but haven't had a good pay job in a while, and they have trouble coming up with paying the mortgage on the house, and eviction is imminent. The family also includes a young son and and 2 daughters where the oldest one is 16.The live on the countryside. And one day a young Columbian man shows up and rents a guest house nearby. The parents in the family gets to know him and he introduces some wild ideas in there life, like smoking marijuana and a quick-and-dirty solution to their money problem. Here the fun begins.
