The actor playing the main character was bad at acting, and the attempts at being cool were just cringey. The acting from the adults was hit and miss, and the whole movie felt boring and forced. The shots were nice looking and the cinematography was not bad, but it lacked any real voice. Low budget movies like Paranormal Activity or The Dirties can be good, because they make up for their low budget with high personality. Expelled is a mediocre to bad movie, and is not cringey enough to be so bad it is good either. It is just bad. Nice try though.

This came out when I was feeling nostalgic about high school so I thought, why not? It looks funny! Like everyone else said, it's such a Ferris Bueller's Day Off rip-off, I'm genuinely surprised it's not a tribute. From the plot to the jokes, even a lot of the same strategies Felix (Cameron Dallas) does to get out of being busted. The acting was okay (better than I can do), but I guess I don't expect much from a cast of people that are only famous from seven-second videos online. Felix's brother is such a 1990s Jim Carrey try-hard, with that over the top clumsiness. Basically, save yourself the time, just watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off, or anything else for that matter

Ferris Bueller was wildly successful, so I can imagine how the pitch meeting went for Expelled. Hey, let's do a Ferris Bueller reboot. Yaas, amazing. How imaginative are you!! And, to keep the fanboys happy, we'll do a bunch of cameos with the original cast. Several weeks later...Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara and Alan Ruck said no. Even Jennifer Grey turned us down. But we can still go ahead right? Nah, we don't want to waste a reboot, let's wait a few more years for them to get desperate for a paycheck then we'll do the reboot. OK, but what are we gonna do with this partially written script for Ferris Bueller 2, Electric Boogaloo? Ahhh, call it Expelled and cast a bunch of nobodies. Make sure they can't act and every single one the cast has the kind of face that makes a dedicated pacifist want to punch it. I'm on it!

Let's get real. This isn't a big-budget blockbuster movie. What do you expect, it was produced by a YouTube channel forgodsakes. The people in it are not actors, they are just YouTubers, Viners, you name it. And if you're not into watching funny sketches on those sites, why would you expect a film like this to be different? I'm pretty open-minded and watch any movie I find to be entertaining--not because I obsess over the main guy like some preteen girl. This movie is directed at a specific audience. And so are Bollywood movies. I sat through 2-3 hours of a Bollywood movie once. It had song and dance/music video intermissions, irrational plots, and cartoon parts for scenes that were too expensive/difficult to film. I was mildly entertained because I wanted to know who stole the diamonds. Sometimes I watch mainstream Philippine romantic/comedy/drama movies to make fun of how bad the acting is. They are all the same. There's a guy, there's a girl and they fall in love. There is a big climax near the end where everything seems to go to s*** but their love keeps them together. But to the right audience, this is cinema gold.My point is: If you're the targeted audience, you will probably enjoy this movie. If you stumbled onto this movie by accident like me, you might hate it. But I loved the witty humor brought about by this cast. A movie doesn't have to be from Hollywood to be good.At least it's better entertainment than Keeping Up With the Kardashians or Jersey Shore.
