Synopsis

Novella McClure is like most struggling actresses in Los Angeles: she's in her early 30s, her fake name sounded cooler ten years ago, and she hasn't landed a role in three years. To top it all off, she's developed a disturbing habit of eating her own flesh. Novella desperately tries to hide her strange condition from her motherly landlord, Eesha, and somewhat psychopathic best friend, Candice, but her body and mind continue to deteriorate in the depressing world of failed auditions and sketchy night clubs. Can a romantic relationship with her psychiatrist prevent her from self destruction? Or will her fatal habit continue to eat away at her?

Reviews

Rorschach I just finished watching this movie 2 minutes ago and i came straight here to make this review.. It really makes me wide awake even when i watch it rather tired.. The actress and actors are well chosen for their roles.. Really got my full attention watching. Scenes captured in very detailed manner and captured my feelings too. The music and soundtrack fits in really good.. I love it so much.. I could also feel every emotion of the main lead (Novella McClure) in the movie. Kind of feel sorry for her when she encounter problems and stressed out. Its rather extreme the things she do to vent out her stress.. Apart from that she is quite pretty and attractive lady. Love the strong gore.. I'm not sure how others rate this movie and i don't care, its a 9/10 for me. But i still give 10/10 to show my appreciation for this movie. Well done to all the people who are involve in making this film. I love this movie so much.
redrobin62-321-207311 Man, I have seen a lot of gory and bizarre films but "Eat" takes the bloody cake! Yes, the acting wouldn't make Meryl Streep jealous, but that matters very little because the subject matter is so damn dark. It's scary when you think about it - someone eating themselves into oblivion. I don't think I've ever seen another film like this, so its originality is what causes me to rate it so high. This film would make an excellent study for students of abnormal psychology; really, it should probably be in the curriculum of universities and colleges worldwide. You wouldn't even need an unrated or uncut version of this movie. It's dark as hell from beginning to end. Interestingly, the acting was pretty weak in the start, but as the movie got more and more deranged, the acting improved."Eat", despite its flaws, is a must-see for all fans of extreme horror. If you can handle "Inside" or "Martyrs" or anything Takashi Miike dishes out, you can handle this.
abhijit-mazumder-email Though the some horror parts are difficult to tolerate sometimes (eating own hand and leg), the movie started very well. Story went very smoothly with enjoyable ups and downs. Some factual errors are very prominent and too much bloodiness made me bit sick. Still due to picturization and storyline, and overall acting movie is well enjoyable. Thriller part is well documented. But last ten minutes it became a menace of its own. Within ten minutes we experienced four deaths. An absurd picturization of eating own heart after taken out from living body put me off. Acting wise Candice (Ali Francis) is best, followed by Novella (Meggie Maddock); both of them did their best. He who doesn't like bad ending of a movie shouldn't watch this.
roadrunner570 I really enjoyed this. I'm a fan of body horror already, so this was right up my alley. The acting started off a bit shaky, but everything fell into place about 10 minutes into the film. Meggie Maddock is a beautiful and talented actress who I hope to see great things from in the future. As crazy as I thought her character, Novella was, her friend really took the cake. I also thought I had Dr. Simon figured out, but that threw me for a loop as well. This film had some really intense moments throughout and her self cannibalism scenes were extremely cringe-worthy. Great film over all and the ending was just insane.
