This movie is dull and unoriginal. Its boring, has bad acting, a poorly-executed plot, and weak characters. This movie is painfully average, and not worth watching.

Three pre-teenage friends are being split up because of what seems to be (what I've heard called) "imminent domain". In this case the city, or whoever, wants to build a freeway right where an entire neighborhood is located. So they've bought out the residents in order to raze the homes and construct their freeway. These three friends decided to spend their last night together following a mysterious map that appeared on their phones. The map leads them to a seemingly useless piece of scrap metal which turns out to be more than that. What they eventually discover is an ailing alien that longs to go home. This movie reminds me of E.T. if someone used it for toilet paper. Or Super 8 if someone used it to blow their nose.Even if we take away the fact that the movie was shot P.O.V. (which is a style I abhor in most cases with the exception of Paranormal Activity and REC) the movie was still bad. Nothing in the movie made me take notice: not their friendship, not any one character, not the story and certainly not the alien. I watched anxiously hoping for something incredible or at least something satisfactory and I found neither.Perhaps this movie was something new and awesome to children but it was a big dud to me.

The movie Earth to Echo was a very creative movie and wasn't just like every other cliché movie with aliens in it. There were a few parts that did remind me of another movie but besides the one or two parts that contained something that reminded me of another movie, it was original. The editing in the movie was very commendable and the parts that showed Echo's sight was also creative and commendable. In the movie there are three boys who are best friends who are forced to move out because of a road being made right above their homes. A few days before they have to home out, one of their phones starts to show a map. They all decide to go to where the map is and they end up finding an alien who needs help to get back home.My opinion on this movie is that it is very creative and I liked how it wasn't just like every other alien movie. It had a interesting plot and the special effects creative. The ending was slightly easy to guess but the story itself was very creative and the movie was very interesting.

So, firstly, I gave this a 6/10 because overall the plot was OK and the acting was OK. the reason this movie is one big fat lie is that its stuffing you with the idea that "hope" keeps long distance friendships alive. NEWSFLASH it doesn't. You know how they always say:don't forget to face time every day, text every day, etc?? Well, after my move across the country, my very best friend face timed once in the year since I've moved. It seems like someone has ripped a hole out of you when you move that far. It numbs. You forget your home, friends, neighborhood. You make new friends, get a new house on a new street, in a new state, or even country. "oh, I once lived..." may come up in a convo at a point in your life, but all those stupid nagging memories of lost friendships get thrown out and replaced. Summary: this movie teaches young children lies about how life is really like. Cute story, but unrealistic telling of how moving goes along.
