'DRIPPED': Two and a Half Stars (Out of Five) This 9 minute animated short was screened with the 2013 Oscar nominated animated shorts in theaters and billed as 'highly commended'. It tells the story of an art thief who eats the paintings he steals from museums and gains the powers of the paintings. When the museums close for a day he's forced to paint his own paintings and gain powers that way. It was written and directed by Leo Verrier and is done in a somewhat sloppy cartoonish style (I'd say). I like the premise of the film but found it hard to get into due to the strange animation and overall feel of the film. Not one of my favorite animated shorts for sure.Watch our movie review show 'MOVIE TALK' at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6yq7kwUUDQ

I have been going to the theater on a pilgrimage for quite a few years now each January-February to see the annual showings of the Best Animated and Best Live Action Shorts. I am lucky enough to live in one of the few places in the country that shows it each year. And, along with the nominated films, they usually show several commended films--animated films which didn't make the final cut but which are well worth seeing."Dripped" is one of these commended films and it comes from France. It consists of a very strange man doing VERY strange things--stealing great works of art and then eating them!! You just have to see this to understand--though, after seeing it, I am still not sure I understand!! My daughter and best friend saw it and loved it. Me, I liked it but the film wasn't among my favorites we saw--perhaps because the story was just awfully weird. Still, it is unique--and I can respect that.
