Horst in Translation ([email protected]) The title "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 5" already gives away that this little movie here is the fifth entry to the fairly successful DHMIS animated short film series that produces like one new episode per year roughly. At over six minutes, it is among the longest installments so far and this time the focus is on food and healthy nutrition. However, things turn out eventually as unhealthy as it gets for some of the characters. No surprise though as the focus in these films is giving an awkward and dark approach to seemingly innocent animated children's television (with an educational component). I believe this is the last from the so far six installments I have seen and it is certainly not the worst. Not a good watch either I must say and the mere fact that other episodes are worse does not make this a quality movie. So yeah, as a conclusion I can say that this franchised never impressed me and the awkward component alone does not make it funny. About this one here in particular, it can be said that I feel that Pelling and Sloan maybe lacked material when it comes to the original characters as honestly, they are really only supporting players now watching new even less interesting characters perform their act. It may be finally time to end this series. Then again, this also could have been said after the very first film. The fact that this has millions and millions of views on Youtube and also a rating of 8+ here on IMDb baffles me. It's not an artistic or creative achievement by any means. Watch something else instead.
