This movie is actually a biopic, based on the book 'De Helft Van De Tijd' (Half Of The Time). This book are the memoires by Frans Van Reeth, written while he was in a mental institution.Frans was a gangster with his own style. He was never armed and tried to avoid the use of violence. He appeared in the newspaper as some kind of robin-hood thief (although he said he was stealing for his own benefit)and became a sort of thief-hero, appreciated by common people. The acting varies from pretty good to really poor. Especially the performance of Tania Kloek who plays the role of Frans' girlfriend was quite poor. But she shows a lot of her great body (which is important for a gangster-girl).The movie has a great soundtrack (from the era) including: Fischer Z, KC & Sunshineband, The Kids, Otis Redding, Pete Shelley and Herman Brood.
VHE
This is the real story of Frans Van Reeth, a small time crook who spent most of his life in jail. In and hour and a half we learn all about the love of his life, his inmates, his adventures in and out of prison and the way he ends. I saw this film 8 times. Not because of the storyline, but because of the music. Good soundtrack, bad performance of Daeseleire as Van Reeth but still entertaining. two out of five.
Floortje
The word Dief means Thief in Flemmisch. So the movie is about a thief. You'll see the guy in jail, in a jail-mobile, and in jail again. In jail with his friends, in jail alone, and in jail outside. The movie was shot here in Antwerp. There is a cool scene in a club. That's the best part of the movie. The movie was so loud and annoying. Half of the room was empty at the end of the movie. If you like to see people in jail and not much else, check out this movie.
