What I was annoyed with in this film are the moments with Diana's sons. Throughout the course of the protagonist mentions her children, according to her the most important thing in the world, but they are showed only for one brief second. Isn't this a contradiction? Although "Diana" is technically very well filmed and offers many beautiful moments that characterize the pressure under which the princess lived, the movie nevertheless fails to convey what is the center of this achievement and that is unconditional love which breaks all barriers of feudal and religious beliefs. "Diana" has its good moments, but in the end leaves a rather weak overall impression.

Diana is biographical film about the life during the last two years of the late Princess Diana. It stars Naomi Watt on the title role and it was based on Kate Snell's 2001 book Diana: Her Last Love. The screenplay written by Stephen Jeffreys starts when Diana and Prince Charles gets divorced and then enters into a relationship with Dr.Hasnat Khan,a Pakistani heart surgeon. It also provides us her tours around the world to campaign against the use of land mines as well as her fashion causes. The film ends the mysteries surrounding her death in a car crash at a time when she was dating Egyptian Dodi Fayed. No question that this was one poor movie considering that the film barely provides anything new about Princess Diana.Everything in it has been already a common knowledge to anyone who is following the current events. It was made only to have a film depiction of the event that happened particularly when the Princess died on a car crash. It would have been better if it provided us something new particularly about the untold chapters of her life and more details about her that are mostly unknown to people. The only positive thing about this movie is Naomi Watts' portrayal of the late princess. But even that is wasted in a movie like this.A better film should be made about princess sometime in the future.

I had high expectations for this film. I actually stopped watching halfway through because I found it boring. It didn't pull me in like I expected it too. Some points are interesting and thought provoking, but overall non engaging. There was something about Diana and Hasnat that seemed off, like the chemistry wasn't fully there. It was also extremely slow moving, which was why I stopped halfway through. Also was not that impressed with Naomi Watts' performance. Especially when she's in Africa tending the sick children, all she did was ask what was wrong with them, frowned, and then moved onto the next kid. I'm sure Princess Diana probably did more than that and I wished they had shown that.

All the bad press was so unfair. I really liked this movie and I can only recommend it to everybody who's interested in the topic. Can't be bothered about some factual or historical inaccuracies. Despite the fact that Naomi Watts looks nothing like "Lady Di" ( I was deeply disappointed when she got cast for the role) her performance is good enough to give us resemblance of real Diana, her fragility and insecurities contrasting with attention and power coming with the status of a global icon. Center of the storyline is well hidden, secret relationship so obviously it involves some creative inaccuracy. On other hand there is quite a lot of details inspired with press coverage from that period which brings the feeling of authenticity. Everybody seems to be quick to jump on a wagon of criticism but I think its done well and its interesting and enjoyable to watch.
