mjarvis0 In the UK we have a publishing house called Mills & Boon who specialise in romance novels. These books are not long about 230 pages and does what it says on the tin!! It is about the meeting and falling in love of two people and the obstacles they face along the way. Now if you have read any of these books you WILL appreciate Diamond Girl. I am not ashamed to say that my wife and I have read a number of Mills and Boon and this film is a good tribute to those books. The story was simple and the chemistry between the actors was there and I think Jonathan Cake is a classic Mills & Boon man. I enjoyed this film immensely and I am very happy to say that I have it as part of my DVD collection and when I need to some light entertainment to get me through an hour and a Half I will happily turn to the film Diamond Girl.
kashu I love this movie also. Its just a nice movie. I love the premise about a girl who is in love with her boss; then his brother shows up and they decide to make everyone think they're a couple thereby making the other brother jealous so he would fall for the girl. Of course it backfires and the brother realizes that he loves her. I've never seen any of these actors before but they're all very good. I have watched in on TV numerous times but wanted to own a copy. Its unavailable here in the US but you can find it on DVD in Canada from imavision.com. Its inexpensive and a great movie all around! I recommend it highly to anyone who loves romance books!
tardusty Finally, I watched a Harlequin turned TV movie that was pretty cute and romantic!! Let me just say that I found out VERY VERY late that the Harlequin series was turned into TV movies. They had the "Shades of Love" series done in the late 80's and of course the Harlequin series for the 90's. I watched one of the Shades of Love series, and it was OK, but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to enjoy it that much anymore. I still have two more 80's tapes coming that I ordered so who knows I might change my mind. Then I watched one of the Harlequin series (A Matter of Marriage and Broken Lullaby) which I also reviewed - they were both alright, but I wasn't really that impressed - yet. Now DIAMOND GIRL. This DVD I ordered (along with So Hard to Forget which I shall watch later this week!) because I liked the plot and I saw it got good reviews. Well, if you are a Harlequin romance lover, you like hunky men and like cute plots, then you will like Diamond Girl! First off, Regan is EXTREMELY hunky and cute. GREAT body. I thought he personified the mean sorta arrogant hero type VERY well. Claire is definitely cute in her own way and she I think the actress gave the Claire character justice. She was spunky, perky and a bit sarcastic - which was cute! A definite great match to Regan. Now Denny, the playboy brother - yup - he was perfect too. The way he talked was a bit too, smarmy or syrupy - cant find the perfect word to describe but the Denny actor definitely looked and acted the part. As for the story it was VERY cute. Just like in a romance novel ya know? There were no boring parts, and the scenery looked great. All in all I RECOMMEND this movie. If your a sappy romance lover, this one is for you!
savoir I, like one of the previous reviewers, caught this movie on WE. I was only able to see the second half. What I saw made me want to buy the video. I had to wait til it aired again on WE. It was worth it. The movie makes little sense. But this is typical of most human relationships in our modern world. Dissecting the movie is a waste of effort. But the emotion that is stirred in the viewer is something else. One just feels good viewing this movie. Maybe that is the essence of paperback romance novels of today. One simply feels an uplift while reading them. Going any deeper destroys the ambiance.
