xanadu-65205 A hilarious film ! The three lead actors , Imran Khan, Vir Das , Kunal Roy Kapoor have rendered nearly flawless, crisp performances. Vijay Raaz has played a suave, droll villain - very amusing . The script, direction and editing is on the money. A refreshing & very 'unbollywood' like movie. Wish to see more films like this one from the Indian fim industry. Be warned-foul language in the film.
Takethispunch The story revolves around three roommates, journalist Tashi (Imran Khan), photographer Nitin Berry (Kunaal Roy Kapur) and cartoonist Arup (Vir Das), leading an unkempt and debt-ridden life in a shady apartment in Delhi. Tashi's ditzy fiancée, Sonia (Shenaz Treasurywala), is an air hostess who agrees to deliver a package for Vladimir Dragunsky (Kim Bodnia) to Somayajulu (Vijay Raaz), without realizing its contents or that Somayajulu is a gangster. Sonia asks Tashi to deliver the package. Tashi, in turn, asks Nitin to do so. But Nitin is unable to do so as he is suffering ' Delhi Belly'. Nitin hands Sonia's package to Arup for delivery to Somayajulu, along with a package containing his stool sample for delivery to Nitin's doctor. Arup mixes up the two bags. Somayajulu, furious, tortures Vladimir to find his package.
bittuds OK, I have watched the movie for the fifth time and its brilliance has compelled me to write a few lines about the movie.... Tell me when was the last time you actually found a bollywood movie genuinely humorous without the actors requiring "on-the-face comedy" to make you laugh (the laugh I know was full of sarcasm)? I think most of the people will remember "Hera Pheri" for the same and why not? It was one funny movie. But after that the came the era of slapstick comedies which one could easily laugh away(pun intended)......... until came Delhi Belly. This is an adult film which you cannot watch with your family but very much with your friends. Even if you do watch it alone, Believe me, this one movie is bound to make you laugh. The roles played by Vir Das and Kunar Roy Kapoor and hilarious enough that literally you will ROFL. The background music adds icing to the cake as it plays a major role in the film. Everyone in the film acted brilliantly. The only thing I didn't like is that of the role played by Imran Khan. He needs to change his accent along with a film. His accent didn't fit his role and he looked like a good boy in between adults. Nevertheless he acted well. The songs are put appropriately in the film.So those who haven't watched it yet, do watch it instead of wasting money on namesake comedy movies these days.
s-sunilpal123 Delhi Belly has gone into some of the finest movies ever made in Bollywood in my book. The film works on many levels. With an ordinary story of a package delivery gone wrong and a gangster's subsequent urge for revenge, the film could have well headed towards disaster had the actors not lifted the movie to an entirely new dimension. Kudos to them and let such actors thrive in Hindi cinema! First of all, I was very impressed with the starting sequence- the one in which all three lead males are sleeping ignoring the water running from the tap. Never before has a starting sequence conveyed so much in such few scenes. That the three men live like pigs and are your average Joes cannot be more evident. Dialogues are also pretty good and each actor convinces the audience well of their profession- a slightly pervert photo-journalist, a very serious workaholic journalist and a down-in-the-dumps cartoonist are all very believable. And they don't go out of the way in their acting- it is all very subtle here and that is why it works. Some comic scenes are the hallmarks of hilarity. Esp. the scenes in which the gangster scolds his goons, when the burqa-clad man spills water trying to drink forgetting to lift his naqab, when the flush comes crashing down on a man's head, and when the same man relieves himself of a Delhi belly in a stranger's house! The two three angles working in parallel with main storyline are also not under-utilized. Maneka (Poorna Jagannathan)'s ex-husband is used at the end to make the transformation of Tashi(Imran) complete. Tashi's other love-interest is also used by the gangster to provide a very interesting and partly comical shooting scene towards the climax. This movie is proof you can still develop good cinema even though the plot is common. You just need to execute it well. I have no qualms about the movie being too explicit as regards sex and foul language also. If you live in Delhi, the movie will only seem too realistic. Instead of closing our eyes and pretending such a situation does not exist, let us allow such movies to depict the reality in a healthy way... Final word...don't miss it! It is a good sign. Hindi Cinema is maturing and I am only too ecstatic about it!
