CB This one is a zero budget remake of the original. Unbelievably badly acted, edited and ....everything is bad.
lukem-52760 DEEP BLUE SEA 2 was a nice surprise this was a really well made movie & although straight to dvd & low budget you wouldn't know!!! Excellent FX & a good new cast. Some good suspense & some very scary scenes make this a fun little sequel
parkerrodney Deep Blue Sea 2 should have been titled, "Deep Blue Stink 1." This low budget fill is an insult to the namesake of the original Deep Blue Sea and is just another train wreck of a long list of Shark movies that attempt to cash in on the Jaws theme - homicidal predator sharks that actively pursue, stalk, kill and seek revenge against the human race for no logical reason whatsoever. But we know that these movies are predictable and are all the same as they miss the mark with bad scripts, sets, acting, music, wardrobe, CGI and just about every aspect of film making. I feel so cheated, so bamboozled out of my $5.99 rental that I'm really thinking about asking for a refund. Anyway, in almost all cases such movies include a mad man or evil corporation that attempts to solve an issue or pursue greed by tinkering with an animal higher on the food chain than man, and instead of solving a problem or making money for investors, creates a Frankenstein which kills his maker and ultimately makes the world a more dangerous place. When this is done successfully, you end up with Jurassic Park series. When this fails, you end up with Deep Blue Stink and Sharknado. But even in this stench of a script, and laughable performances, there are lessons to learn, teachable moments if you will. First, human beings do kill 100 million sharks each year, mostly for Shark Fin soup or for other pharmacological and pseudo pharmacological purposes, and that's not good. Second, that sharks are critical to the ocean, because if the ocean dies... we die. The ocean produces approximately 70 percent of the air humans rely upon to survive. Now, I am fully aware that the purpose of the movie is not to preach about marine conservation, especially in the Dunning Kruger climate denying fact free world that we live in, but since they opened that door, why not have the backbone to go through it. After all, the script sucks, the acting is worse, why not set thr movie's premise up properly. They had nothing to lose, and a few simple relevant Google searches on the conservation and quantum computing threat, might spice up the script and spark a few Dunning brain cells. This is a huge fail. But what makes this plot even more laughable is the preposterous notion that it is plausible that the primordial primitive genetic material of a fish will make man exponentially smarter and enable him to fend off the new boggie man - the maniacal threat of artificial intelligence and quantum computing which will kill off mankind. This abomination of pseudo science meets at the intersection of Stupid and Absurd streets as present day clinical studies don't support the plausibility of the plot, and man's brain is not likely to evolve or be genetically modified to the point of being able to compete with computer programming.Sometimes however, there is a gold nugget under a pile of poop. Our takeaway from this movie includes the reminder that technology does not always move man forward or make him reflective, because man's inventions are easily corrupted, weaponized, simply contain too many unknowns which he doesn't bother to plan for. Blow back, or unintended consequences is a concept that humanity either can't grasp or simply refuses to believe. That message in and of itself can never be stated too many times, even if one has to sit through the slop of a film that deserves a constant berating as opposed to a B rating.See it if you want to..Don't say I didn't tell you. It all depends on how you like your cheese. This one is full of holes.
jrfhy The acting was atrocious all around. I wanted all of the characters to die. The plot had so many holes, the script was likely written by a middle school student, and the set was obviously low budget. I made the mistake of watching it before looking at the IMDB rating. After the torturous hour and a half, I looked on IMDB, saw the 3.2 rating (which is generous), and then saw that the channel "SyFy" had purchased the movie. Oh my, that's worse than straight to DVD. If you are looking for a good shark movie, don't waste your time with this one. The sharks don't really get enough screen time.
