The plot was an interesting and entertaining twist on zombie outbreaks. I was going to rate this 5 stars due to the low budget production and the occasionally incomprehensible Irish accents. However, I realized there was also some significant directing being done on a shoe string budget. The actors were for the most part better than average. I got the required minimum few scares. The blatant attempts for laughs were down played to a minimum, like the music. And the shots of the low budget effects were not enough to become laughable. I also liked the closing song. And who doesn't love a good cow turned meat eating predator? "What was that?" "That was a cow." "It couldn't be." "Why not?" "They're all dead." ... and then ... the bad news. Bon apetit!

If a film like Romero's 'Night of the Living Dead', which was made on a paltry budget, can still be effective 40 years later, how on earth could anyone even remotely think this is even a 1% decent flick. It's 100% ineptitude in my opinion. To say anything else would be criminal. And yes, I watch loads of sh#t from drivel to Lake Dead to excellent ones like REC. This was closer to Lake Dead than I would've liked. What was the Irish Film Board thinking? The script must've totaled about 3 pages. I don't care that they had no budget or that the 'gore' effects were cheap looking, or that the actors were painfully bad & extremely non-emotive. None of that matters to me. I love low budget films. But the least it can be is to be entertaining. It failed miserably. Did any of the people involved sit in on the editing to even try & salvage it. Just watch the end credits & see how the cast & crews names appear twice. To extend the length past the actual 74mins of the film itself.Just look at Peter Jackson's 2 debut film Bad Taste. Even then you could see that he was a born filmmaker. I see no evidence with the director work with this film, It added nothing to the canon of zombie films. I've read the other comments that seem to rate this from average to above average & I am spellbound by them. Were they watching a 10 minute edit of the film? Oh the editing. Yes. Good point. Where was the editor? Scenes that should have made a point within 1min took 10 minutes to play out. There was no sense of dread, atmosphere, fun, nothing. I thought it being Irish it might have been a different & maybe even a ridiculous take on the genre, but alas, it was as bad as any straight to video release that 100's of Americans make each year. The Aussie film 'Undead' had no budget, but at least it had some style & verve. This was so frigging dull. And you can stop with the usual 'let's see you make a film' comments. Boring & predictable. I did the filmmakers a service by watching the damn thing. They failed to deliver. I am making a few comment. Simple as that. I could squish a pimple & get more sense of drama, gore, thrills from that than I received from this film.

I absolutely HATE zombie-movies! But this one, this one was wonderful (if you can say that about a zombie-movie! I've read some reviews and everybody states that this one is for zombie-lovers, but that is so wrong. The things that make me like this film is that it has a fine mixture between horror and humor. Like, I can be scared to death and then seconds later I can laugh so much it brings tears to my eyes. I like the characters too, especially Desmond, he's the coolest ever ^^ The Irish accent is wonderful, not only that an Irish accent is beautiful, but somehow it brings even more humor to the already funny comments :D There are very funny scenes too, and scary ones. I might think it's scary since I have a zombie-phobia but I think I read that someone else got scared too. Anyway, I have a favorite scene *SPOILER*: and that is when they're driving the car and they see the zombie-bride. When she sees them and turns around and begin to run! Its so darn funny I laugh only to think of it :D *SPOLER ENDED* Those kind of things makes this movie a movie everyone should see. It's all fun and scary at the same time. The only thing that disappoints me is that it's so short. Besides I'm a bit confused about the ending. *SPOLER* I mean, what happened to her and all the other survivors? An old friend told me that they were making food of them, but I don't know. To me it looks like they're just taking them away in a not so very mild way... But maybe I'm naive :P *SPOLER ENDED* Anyway, not even the low budget effects bothered me, but I never really care about effects as long as the movie itself is good. So why am I not giving this movie more than 7? Because it's a zombie-movie and the shortness. Still it's the best zombie-movie ever, and remember: I HATE ZOMBIE-MOVIES!

This Irish movie (which is said to be the first horror film made in Ireland with Irish money) had a budget of under $100,000 and it is pretty impressive. The movie is highly derivative of both Romero and Raimi, but it is original enough (especially with 'mad cow disease' as the zombie root and the setting of the Irish countryside) that it doesn't come across as a blatant rip-off. There are several scenes set at nighttime that are effectively frightening. This movie also has a crazy sense of humor, mostly seem in the zombie attack sequences. Handicapped zombies, sleeping zombies, zombie cows, and death by high heel--what is not to love here?
