CharlesFort OK I went in with low expectations, knowing this was a low budget effort. Also it turns out that one guy did all the music/animation etc basically making this a one man show; congratulations on all that. Here is the problem; this movie is horribly written, horribly animated, the music is terrible, the girl's voice is a super annoying pitch shifted man's, etc. Anyone who says this was great or funny was probably involved with the making or a personal friend. The writing is about at the 7th grade level, including all dialog and "plot" turns...I say that lightly because it looks like the whole thing took one night to come up with. Basically it's a watered down Evil Dead, but fails to even hold attention with the crappy gore effects. As for the art style, it was a really generic macromedia flash looking style, without any real detail or character to make it stand out. The demons all looked the same as did every gore scene. It was the type of movie you are embarrassed for the director while watching. Avoid at all costs. Sorry buddy, better luck next time.
Lyhue W F. Sudol, the guy that brought us "City of Rott", returns with another example of hard work and insane gory animation. Definitely a horror spoof, this film grabs elements of "Evil Dead" and turns them upside down. Fans of the first Sudol effort will recognize the old man from "Rott" and will be delighted to hear the old man crack on all his comrades with hellish glee. Very cynical, black comedy here. A bit repetitive, but nonetheless funny and watchable. You have to give F. Sudol some credit for doing all the work himself, short of DVD distribution. Voiceovers, editing, stop-motion, script, all composed and handled by a single guy. Impressive.
Nightmare-Maker I picked up this movie last week, it looked quite good fun by the cover, the only problem is it is an animation, I don't usually go for animation...but in this case it matters not! This is one fun little flick, four guys out hunting deer when a demon/zombie appears and starts attacking them. Then they move on to a log cabin and more zombies turn up. It's down to the three remaining survivors to send the zombies back where they came from. Basically thats it, but it's done in such a mad frenetic way, you can't help but love it. It's funny too, the old guy, Pop, is absolutely hilarious. It is like an animated EVIL DEAD, believe me if you like blood and guts, this delivers in spades, the red stuff just flies from start to finish.I highly rate this little beauty, 8 out of 10
