polysicsarebest 10/10 just for being the most insane movie I've ever seen. Visions of Suffering, Death Powder, Reflections of Evil, and a few other movies have held that title over the years, but no way will this be replaced.Stop-motion, supersaturated colors, completely just.. insane, ridiculous.. fast cuts... about a BILLION cuts, by the way. Completely chopped-up narrative. Okay, there's not much of a story. This is all style. It doesn't matter. Just so BIZARRE. Dialogue that doesn't match voices. Almost the whole film takes place in black rooms with high-contrast props and insane costumes.Sorta like a cross of the films of Adam Cooley and the early films of Tsukamoto. Worth a watch. Don't mistake my rating: This isn't a GREAT movie, but it is just... wow... INSANE.
Jonny_Numb There is much fun to be had at those underground festivals of neon light and thumping music known as raves, but there is a considerable difference between participating in one and hearing someone's account of one, second-hand. "Dandy Dust" is a zero-budget British "experimental" film that plays like a silent movie crossed with a particularly lame MTV video and the pulsing neon of an all-night party. The style is pretentious, the plot incoherent, and the edits, overexposures, and loud colors deflate any "humor." In short, it's a senseless disaster–a movie that clearly looked like fun to participate in, but is sheer torture to watch.
NateManD O.K so I have seen my fair share of bizarre movies, Jodorowky's The Holy Mountain, Eraserhead, Tetsuo the Iron Man, The Begotten; but this film is so bizarre it literally leaves the viewers head spinning. It's filmed in bright high contrast colors and filters, that almost jump out of the screen. It best can be described as a candy colored lesbian, cyberpunk extravaganza. It takes the viewer to another dimension. The character Dandy Dust has to go to various planets, I think to boost his/her sex drive and defeat a depraved villain. There is twins who throw flowers, A groin drill sequence like in Tetsuo, A spider vagina man, A nude women with real high shoes, explicit strange sex that involves strange abstract objects and depraved outer space perversion. In other wards it's hard to really know what the plot is, it's just a real bad trip. It's hard to keep up with the fast cuts, and bizarre images. Most people will feel worn out and emotionally drained before it's over. It has great costumes and set pieces. It's highly Psychedelic and Surreal. Although I didn't understand everything that was going on, I still enjoyed this film. There simply isn't anything remotely like it. It's worth finding a copy if you enjoy the style of David Lynch's short films. Even without drugs, the film takes it's viewers out of reality.
Infofreak Look, I've got a pretty open mind, and can appreciate all kinds of weird movies, from arthouse to exploitation, but 'Dandy Dust' is one of the most useless and BORING movies I've ever seen! If it lived up to the hype of the video cover blurbs I'd be a happy man, but it's hard to believe they're talking about the same movie as the one I just endured.Makes 'Gummo' look like 'Citizen Kane'.
