I can see a few people abusing the movie and its director for remaking a English movie.I guess the same people did not even know that this movie was a remake until recently when they realised it. The movie is a nice adaptation from the original and as a moviemaker has to make compromises to satisfy Bollywood and its viewers the movie turns out to be a good thriller for a 1990s timeline. Acting wise Nagarjuna excels in his actions both as a criminal and a doctor. Manisha Koirala and Ramya Krishnan were among the better actresses at that time and are glamorous. The comedy sequences are nicely mixed in between to divert the movie from being too monotonous. Gulshan Grover plays the villain role to perfection. Songs by M.M.Keeravani are a melody ride which are among the best songs in 90s era.

Criminal is another disastrous movie from one of the greatest copycats of Bollywood- Mukesh Bhatt. But even replicating most of the scenes from the classic Hollywood flick, The Fugitive couldn't save this film. The plot is badly handled with lots of unnecessary song and dance. What was the most irritating part was that Criminal contains two heroines. In the original, the plot was based only on the hero and his run from the law till he proves himself innocent. The heroines do nothing substantial for the film. Manisha Koirala was only effective in her last two scenes. But the whole love angle between her and Nagarjuna where she tries to seduce the hero to make him fall in love with her was so irritating. Ramya Krishnan plays the role of a cop but be aware of the fact that she's just a sidekick to Nassar. The role of Tommy Lee Jones in the original is played by Nassar and he was good but again, it's a deja vu kind of thing if you already watched the Fugitive. The hero, Nagarjuna was terrible. He looked lost and uninterested in front of the camera. He lacks the charm of the charismatic Harrison Ford. The songs were very displeasing to the ears. 'Tum Mile Dil Khile' is likable in parts but the rest of the songs are horrible. On the whole, a horrible movie from the Bhatt camp. Avoid!

With Nagarjuna and Koirala in the lead, I was expecting a decent movie. This, unfortunately, was quite bad. Not surprisingly, it sank without a trace at the box office in 1995, despite the star-studded cast. It's supposed to be a remake of the Fugitive, but did Bhatt even watch the original before supposedly "re-making" it? As with his other films, Bhatt takes a reasonably good story and uses his "magic" to destroy it.The songs are interspersed at random places in the movie, and, as is usual with Bhatt films, there is always the unnecessary sexuality. Nagarjuna's acting skills are not quite up to the par, and he looks rather tired and old, even beyond whatever is required by his role. The soundtrack still sounds pretty good, however, but is not quite good enough to redeem the movie.

Criminal, another movie which was supposed to be inspired by Fugitive is in-fact a horrible re-make of Harrison Ford's terrific thriller Fugitive. In the process of making it look a bit different the director makes a nonsense film with 2 heroines and duets where as in the original there is no character as a heroine. And then the character of Tomy Lee Jones is so mellowed down that it looks nothing more than a traffic constable and this is done just to make the hero look like a superman capable of doing anything.A worst film in every aspect.
