Well, sadly I was lured to see this movie. Brazilian's synopsis stated it as a movie which the main character would go insane after leaving prison, since life outside is very hard as well-- not that much anyways. That plot would be much more interesting and related to my job-- I work with a criminal judge. However, the story didn't happen as I thought it would. Even thought the main character has some problems outside jail, I believed he would have so strong problems that he would wish to go back there. Tim Allen is a medium actor, we don't see a differential in his acting when comparing to other mainstream actors. The plot isn't contrived and has some creativity, but in the ends appeals to the old Hollywood cliché-- which makes the movie becomes very corny. All in all, some fun scenes aren't enough to make this movie a good one. Pass it.

After being released from prison, Tommy must cope with his family, his new job, his desire to follow in his father's footsteps and of course, not getting himself thrown back into prison. This film has an impressive cast, first you have Tim Allen, whom I find funny. His sister is a compulsive liar, played by Sigourney Weaver. She is married to J.K. Simmons, who has a beef with Allen. They lie to the grandmother, saying Allen went to France for 3 years, instead of prison. He went to prison because his best friend is in some illegal shady business work, this is Ray Liotta. Allen also goes to find his old flame, the girl he loved before he went to prison, played by the funny Julie Bowen. She has a fiancée, played by Kelsey Grammar. Finally Jeanne Tripplehorn plays Allen's parole officer. Those are the players, and even though all of them have had success in the past with their comedy chops, they all seem to be flat here. Bowen, in my opinion, as the funniest role as the girlfriend who wants to marry Grammar, while see Allen on the side. Allen himself seems too distracted here, this is most likely because he was directing this as well. He went for a more likable schmuck role than a funny one. Weaver, as the compulsive liar, steals every scene she is in. Every lie she comes up with his more outrageous than the next. The problem with the film is that it was more kind hearted than funny. A lot of the story elements are clichéd and predictable. Which takes the fun out of the film. One of the things I look forward to in comedies is the unexpected, this film throws nothing like that our way. The film had potential, and it means well, but it leaves an unsatisfied taste in your mouth. A lot of the film is just mediocre and given the amount of talent behind this one, it falls short.

When i saw the poster of the movie i thought this is what i want to watch a relaxing And a hilarious movie . but it was so much far of any doubt i had before . the acting is so slow and very emotionally poor I could not even tell if this is movie is a comedy or dramatic .. So i stopped watching it after only 16 minutes i just wasted my money and i cant even waste my precious time on it ..if u like the slow progress story.. a cold and none sense acting watch this ......!!.. i can only admit that the story is Little bit interesting but it got in the wrong hands . the acting and the direction was too bad even the sound affect is not attractive .it made me sleepy .the movie also misses the element of the surprise .. as the story is new and the title is Crazy outside.. i only could see a normal people and behavior . even the scene if kidnapping was not too much ..the music did not help the scene .

Crazy on the Outside is a delight. The first full length Tim Allen film with it all. Good script. Great cast. Good performances. Great music. The first really believable character for Tim Allen since Home Improvement. Sigourney Weaver plays the hysterical inventive sister. Her funniest, best character since Heartbreakers. And Ray Liotta is the ultimate good bad guy. Although Jeanne Tripplehorn, Kelsey Grammar, J. K. Simmons and Julie Bowen round out the cast, Kenton Duty is great as the baseball playing son. Malcolm Goodwin and Jon Greis are wonderful as the extra ex cons. This is a fun charming movie anyone can watch and enjoy. A real rarity.
