PeplumParadise Following a thrilling opening sequence in the arena, seven champion gladiators and a monkey (including Vadis, Caltabiano, Calisti and Bradley), are hired for a mysterious purpose. When the unruly gang cause a riot in an inn, local do-gooder Maciste (Mark Forest, with serious bad hair problems and wearing lime green) is called upon to come to the aid of the people, but instead suffers humiliation when he takes on the gladiators in the ring. It is eventually revealed that the seven have been hired to help de-throne just, but dull, Queen Thalima (Scilla Gabel). Maciste, of course, finally manages to muster his strength, and defeats the villains one by one. Played mostly for laughs and with plenty of beefcake on show, this is mildly entertaining if you can tolerate whining aged midgets, upstart chimps and effeminate black men in drag!
