KissEnglishPasto ......................................................from Pasto,Colombia...Via: L.A. CA., CALI, COLOMBIA and ORLANDO, FLCiudad Delirio really hit my proverbial Nostalgia Sweet Spot! To be honest, knowing that it was produced and filmed in Cali caused me to set my expectations relatively low…Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised… DELIRIO has a lot going for it! Having lived over 16 years in Cali, more than 1/3 of my adult life, it is, perhaps, hard for me to be impartial, though… The music and dancing are absolutely incredible, just out of this world! Making this film an ABSOLUTE Must See for anyone and everyone mentioned in my Title above. Let's broaden that by adding Latin Music and Latin Culture lovers, and just about anyone who has ever spent much time anywhere in Colombia! The DVD I saw was distributed in Colombia, so it did NOT have any captions in English…(or any other language, for that matter!) My curiosity prompted me to look for the U.S. release date on IMDb….Guess what? Apparently, at least as of February 1st, 2015, not YET released in the USA! IMDb lists DELIRIO as a joint Colombian/Spanish project, but after carefully reading the credits, my educated guess would be that a lot of the bankrolling was from Spain, Chus (Maria Jesus) Gutierrerz, directed it and wrote the screenplay, and the male lead, Julián Villagrán, is also from Spain. Nevertheless, the film basically has CALI written all over it! By the way, from a technical standpoint; cinematography, film-editing, sound recording, etc., definitely one of the best Colombian films I have ever seen. Especially, the sound! As far as I know, the first Colombian film released completely in Dolby 5.1 Surround! DELIRIO also shines for its no- frills, "Less is More" storyline. Add to that some very natural dialog and acting and you get an 8 Star experience that lasts exactly 90 minutes before the end credits begin to roll…At least that's what DELIRIO was for me.This review, however, is being submitted under protest. Here is a Colombian movie, made in Spanish, not yet released in the U.S., but which IMDb insists must be posted in English. Although millions of Americans continue to maintain their heads in the sand on this issue, Spanish is, without a doubt, the de facto second language in the United States! About 15 or 16% of people living there speak Spanish at home! …...MORE THAN ALL OTHER FOREIGN LANGUAGES COMBINED!!! If this doesn't confer a very unique and special status to Spanish, what would? Hopefully, IMDb will change their policy In this regard very soon!8*...ENJOY!/DISFRUTELA! Any comments, questions or observations, in English o en Español, are most [email protected]
