kz917-1 Ugh.Candace Cameron Bure is a doctor attempting to follow in her father's footsteps and be a medical fellow in Boston. She only applies to one location and doesn't receive an invitation. She ends up in Garland, Alaska (read podunk Alasaka) where there is one general store and one handyman and one electrician, etc..Things are different in Garland and some things seem off, others magical even..In the end the story is bland and Candace, well if I had some spiked egg nog this movie might have been palatable. Move along to the next movie and leave this one under the tree.
m-j-walker Candace Cameron Bure stars in another Hallmark Christmas Movie. This time she plays a young doctor, the daughter of a physician living in the lower 48 who expects his daughter to only work at the most prestigious medical facilities. Instead, she accepts a position at a small hospital in a very remote Alaskan community called, "Garland." Garland is desperate for a doctor who will stick around for more than a little while. The town is very friendly - obviously in hopes that she will stay on. Typical Hallmark style holiday movie with the attendant magical moments, including snow, Santa, as well as a surprise or two as secrets are uncovered, etc. One of the more enjoyable in this venue. The characters - each with their cute quirks - just click in this heartwarming Christmas yarn. No, its not "Miracle on 34th Street," but as mindless, warm, romantic holiday fare it succeeds.
Christmas-Reviewer BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE MOVIE. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM HONESTDr. Lauren Brunell (Candace Cameron Bure) has her whole life planned out. As a third year surgery resident, she is counting on being accepted into a prestigious hospital fellowship to follow in the footsteps of her supportive father, Henry (Pine). But when those plans quickly fall apart, and Lauren is put on the wait list, she must take the only other opening available: a head doctor position in the small, remote town of Garland, Alaska. Now plot and story move along in at a brisk pace. The film has a plausible story-line but the casting sinks this from "Must See" to "Its Cute but predictable" Now while I liked the story I just had a hard time buying Candace as a Doctor. Her range of acting seems to be smiling, mugging and pouting. Her "Valley Girl Voice doesn't help either. I am not sure how old Dr Lauren is suppose to be but Candace had to be past 35 when she filmed this. This part most likely calls for a young doctor. Candace looks every bit of her 35 years which is a distraction. I am sure she was cast because of her TV Q. Now I am sure in real life she might be a nice person but she is not a very good actress. For now she should stick to situation comedies and get a better acting coach. Any first year dram student would of been better in the lead.
mikeandjenna2013 If you watch the first 5 minutes of this you will get the feel of the rest of the movie. The actors did a good job, but as the other reviews stated, the script and plot are a little flat. Frankly, what do you expect from the Halmark channel? It was a happy seasonal flick, but is unlikely to become a classic. Also, I would just like to point out those were all white blankets...not snow. Snow crunches when it is stepped on. Oh, and I would also like to point out that the Cessna had one landing light when taxiing out, but two, rather bright lights once airborne (when the landing light would have been off). It will surely encourage a little bit of Christmas spirit, and perhaps even some winter fashion tips. -Just look past the sub-par CGI and that it was clearly filmed in a warmer climate.
