If the acting wasn't so bland and some plot points would be left out, like the really forced romance, in favor of some implicit background story, then this could have been a great movie. The acting is at times over-dramatized which makes you laugh, at other times it lacks any emotion and feels like they are robots reading their lines. It kind of starts out like a horror movie, reminiscent of Alien, then progresses into a mystery scifi. The set is beautiful and gives you this cold space-ship feeling like Alien did. The CGI is not as good, but there is fortunately not much to see of it. The story is actually quite interesting, but the acting makes it fall flat. The whole world does not feel believable, because it lacks the details. There are no casual dialogs between the crew members that could tell something about their dreams or wishes or the world in general. What are their everyday problems? The atmosphere and the visuals, especially of the interior are quite good. If you have 1.5 hours to waste and are a science fiction fan, than you could give this a go, but otherwise you should probably skip it.

The entire movie is shot quite beautifully, with the expansiveness of space taking centre stage. However the acting and general script is pretty bad. The storyline is quite good, although there are one or two things that make absolutely no sense to me! SPOILER: In terms of the storyline, this may seem obvious, but nobody else has mentioned it:The movie is entirely in German, but all the way through the movie there seems to be Chinese symbols on the ships and there is also a Chinese object shown over the dining table a number of times. The movie is basically orientated around the illegal movement of migrants from China to the west and has a dozen hidden messages scattered throughout the storyline. The highly populated and unpleasant space station above earth is the source of the migrants (essentially the Chinese slums). The people on the space station were told (or fooled) into thinking that things would be better on the space station (the slums) then it is on Earth (the Chinese countryside). The perfect and beautiful planet everyone wants to go to (as shown by migrants in their video messages) is called Rhea (the west). The people on the space station work terrible jobs to get enough money to go to this paradise planet (the west). However it transpires that once the main character gets to the planet Rhea (the west), she discovers that it is a virtual simulation within a floating structure and all the people there have been fooled into believing they are living on a paradise planet. Essentially the movie is implying that the west is in fact fake and not what it seems, but the migrants living there are blinded to that fact. It also implies that the migrants are not at fault for illegal migration because they have been fooled by large corporations with the promise of a better life on Rhea (the west). It then transpires that Earth is in fact very habitable with plenty of vegetation so the main character tells everyone on the space station (the slums) to instead go back to Earth (the countryside) and make a living there. The main character wants to bring her sister out of the simulation (the west) and back to Earth (the Chinese countryside) but her body has been degraded by living too long in the simulation (the west). Therefore the main character cuts off all communication with her by destroying the antenna (the internet) in order to prevent more people from the space station (the slums) from going to Rhea (the west). A child (a new generation) is rescued from the cargo ship and brought back to Earth (the Chinese countryside) to begin a new life that the previous generation had abandoned. There may even be more hints at this message but I think I covered quite a bit in this. Overall I would suggest watching it.

Watching this movie is a complete waste of time.Let's start.First of all, this is a senseless version of "Matrix-on-space".For movie maker, writer and producer of this film physic is an opinion. Why one jet pack can't bring two persons? And when the doctor and the agent separate in the end, but what happens? Pure fantasy.Character portraying is awful! Does doctor Portmann has only one expression in her pretty face? Oh, my god!Why only terrorists think that mankind must back to live in Earth, now that the planet is habitable again? Is the unclear kind of government in the movie completely mindless? Oh no! We want mankind live in space stations and simulation... we are evil! And when Portmann connect herself into simulation who meet of thousands and thousands of persons? The sister and her family, who else?!Please.

Lucky you if you have a large HD viewing medium. The opening scenes of this film are awesome. As a matter of fact, any of the scenes outside of the Kassandra are equally candy for the eyes. But, a movie isn't built on visuals alone. While the plot outline is good, what I will refer to as the 'meat' of the story leaves much to be desired. For instance, the romance between Portmann and Decker seems to come out of nowhere. There is no lead up of any kind, Decker just kisses her out of the blue. As far as I can tell, there was very little interaction between them until that moment. Then they have sex. At first, I thought it was a casual hook-up, and that I could understand - cabin fever induced horniness. Then I thought, "They are going to "do it" in the passage way? That is like doing it in a cruise ship hallway, but, 'oh well'" Then they are in love. It is like the writer(s) was told that a romantic angle was needed and under duress just slapped something together. Then there is the brief amount of time they have to get their tasks completed while Laura is in the simulation. There are less than 7 minutes left, yet she pauses to look around and admire the view. Then stops and kneels down to spend some time feeling the ground and the leaves. Finally she strolls up to her sister's house and then spends precious minutes having a loving family reunion. Come on! Peoples' lives are depending on her.I really wanted to be able to give this a higher rating because it really is beautifully shot, but the storyline, outside of the main one (evil corporation/government cover up) is just too lame.
