I saw this film with my girlfriend on a Philippine movie channel, and while the premise is intriguing -- a Korean girl in the Phils falls in love with a Filipino -- the movie is a bunch of clichés and typical teen predicaments. I felt the two main characters had no chemistry as a couple and Park's character seemed more like a wallflower than a leading lady. This is the crap that can happen when you give a teen star an acting job.And the ending, oh gosh, what a crock. The director simplified it so much, I think, because it would've cost a lot of money to film any of it in Korea. So after she leaves the Phils, everything works out happily ever after and they get married? Such bullshit, esp. if you know how exclusive Koreans are.

Can This Be Love is a Filipino romantic comedy that stars Hero Angeles and Korean Sandara Park together with Roxanne Guinoo, Joross Gamboa, and Paw Diaz.It is about a love story between students of different nationalities particularly a Filipino and Korean. The film was written and directed by Jose Javier Reyes. Can This Be Love has Ryan and Daisy as the main characters. Both are College students.Ryan is a part- time typist of term papers, while Daisy is a Korean immigrant studying in the Philippines. Ryan encounters what he thinks is the worst term paper ever written. At that same day, he also comes across a cellphone ad. He contacts the person selling the phone and eventually became friends with her. Then he discovers that the girl he is talking with on the phone and the owner of the term paper is one and the same- the Korean girl! Ryan and Daisy develop an instant irritation towards each other. The cultural differences and the language barrier add to their frustration. But since they have also developed a friendship through their text messages before they met, both decide to give love a chance. Can This Be Love is definitely your typical formulaic, predictable and contrived love story between two people of different nationalities at the University Belt.It definitely capitalizes on the good looks of the lead stars instead telling an original and refreshing love story that was never told before in the movies. Also,it relies on the culture clash between the two lovers for laughter. The acting is definitely far from brilliant.Hero Angeles tends to go over-the-top especially with his romantic scenes as he tries to shout most of the time and he is basically wooden during the delivery of his lines. While the lovely Sandara Park provides decent emotion despite difficulty in speaking Tagalog.Kudos though to Roderick Paulate in stealing some scenes during the movie.Too bad that both don't leads portray students in love but actors at work.Chemistry is definitely lacking inspite of the screen presence that both Hero and Sandara provide. But nevertheless, the movie had its moments and it definitely does not fall short in entertainment. It is definitely worth your time as it illustrates the problems that conditions and difficulties that students are currently facing as well as a culture clash between Filipinos and Koreans in a romantic setting.

this movie isn't that bad. hero and sandara do a really great job playing the main characters, but the only thing i didn't like was how it was longer that i expected. and at times the acting was bad, but all in all, it's a cute romantic movie. i could really see that hero and sandara had great chemistry and that made me like the movie more. i loved what sandara was wearing too, she had a cool outfit in every scene!i highly suggest this movie, it's funny, entertaining, and it's also very cute. it's a lot better than some of the other movies out there!
