ccthemovieman-1 This is mainly a titillation movie for guys who can't get enough ogling of women's breasts. If anyone tells you anything else, they aren't telling you truth. The title, and what's on the video box, drove a lot of men to rent or buy this VHS tape when it came out.,,,not because they were interest in medical procedures!I say "mainly" because there actually is a story to this, but it winds up being more of a soap opera with two men feuding - more like cat-fighting, than anything else. The first half hour, before all the fighting and feuding, was interesting but that's about it. So many women have had successful breast implants that emotional warnings of the dire results of such surgery - which is seen here - seem pretty outdated by now. However, vanity, greed and everything else that goes along with some of these surgeries - the patients and the doctors - are not exaggerated, and some of the stories are pretty sad where so many people (as shown here) have such a poor self-image or motivated for the wrong reasons.
MSusimetsa I had no high hopes for the film and my only reason for watching it was to see how Schwimmer made in his role. Still, if you get past the thought that the movie is made only to show naked breasts to teenage boys, and realise that the movie is a serious critique about the idea of breast implants, it all starts to work OK. Still, it is a mediocre film about a serious topic with some surprisingly good acting from D. Schwimmer. Especially the aging masks were done with good skill. Rating: 4 out of 10.
Alex Brown This film has TV movie written all over it, it's got nudity, scandal and plenty of rude bits t for the last night Channel 5 audience, if you're one of those sad people]About the 2 men who invented the silicon breast implant, this follows their rise and fall, and is about as predictable as any film can get. Really not worth watching, I can only blame my broken remote control for not switching over!
marvelous-marv I wish they had "made for TV" movies like this when I was growing up! This was a based-on-a-true story that was actually a composite of a handful of doctors that pioneered breast implant surgery. It is definitely a man's movie, but there was a message there for women. It has some really cute moments and it really nails that late 60s/early 70s time frame very well; being one who lived through it and remembered it well, I'm a expert! I believe it touched on all points objectively; the pros and the cons, and it touched on each players' hand in the entire chain --- the corporate side, the doctors' side, the patients who were happy and the ones who were not happy, as well as the health concerns. The manufacturers and doctors still claim that no research has ever proven they were liable, but something wrong surely was happening. No, it's not "Casablanca", but it wasn't meant to be --- It's an HBO movie, folks, it's a fun movie made for fun, not the Celluloid Hall of Fame, so quit analyzing it and enjoy it. It's not in bad taste and it is credibly acted, written and filmed. On the lighter side guys, check out the mammaria, mama mia! Yes, this is a must-see for young male adults (and young adult women complating the procedure) and certainly should be on the list of "movies for guys who like movies".
