Synopsis

Jake Reid's father died in a bloody massacre 15 years ago in Covelo, California, after participating in a botched robbery-the loot from which was never found. Jake comes to this small western town to dig up the past and to dig up the money-he digs too deep. As he uncovers the circumstances of his father's death, Jake enlists the help of the daughter of a man his father killed, and fends off the town's brutal sheriff. But Jake isn't the only one looking to haul away the money. Escaped from prison, and on the run, Jake's father's surviving partner in crime shows up in town to finally collect his ill-gotten gains. The sheriff, the outlaw, the locals and the girl go straight to what they know-the gun-and Jake, caught in the crossfire, must decide who's side he is on.

DrProfessor What happens when you mix hippies, with guns and blackberry pies, low budgets and bad acting(not to mention the worst soundtrack ever)? You get this movie. I read a review of this film and this is what it says:"Blood Loss is a nasty little film that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not. A robbery gone bad, and betrayals borne of mishap and greed, are the catalysts that set the clock ticking on this pastoral passion play. The passage of time in an idyllic agrarian valley, where harvest festivals and bosom-heavy country girls attract the usual run of B-movie troglodytes and biblical Midway struggles, is as much a character in this tone poem as are the various and tawdry characters who come and go. A general store, a motel, a bar, a storage facility, the deceptive calm of the noon sun on sleepy shade trees, lend a sense of normalcy that beckons human depravity to do its best to dig up the dirt and sow havoc. There's a morally ambiguous sheriff in town, and a couple of deputies whose genes lie somewhere on the genetic map between Tonto and Barney Fife, and a Prodigal Son with no purpose in life other than the pursuit of a storied stash of filthy lucre and a possible hook-up with a milk-fed buxom barkeep who can shoot the balls off a steer without her halter betraying a sweat. Blood Loss is Greek myth, a tour of the underworld in the light of day. A river runs through it, Charon collects secrets and storage, Cerberus is wandering the countryside like the rabid dog he is, Romulus and Remus do a vicious cameo, Psyche bides her time and teases Eros into motel reverie, Pan is loose on the set, Zeus and Ida Lupino are looking down from Olympus, and the ultimate conflagration is a spaghetti crescendo worthy of a Leone opera. If there's a Drive-In screen still casting images over a cracked tarmac off your dusty interstate, drop the title in the suggestion box. This movie was made for your second date." I have found all of this is total crap. "I have had to remove the name of the user who is making false reviews to make the film sound good" must be affiliated with the production. It is more entertaining then the movie though... I'm not sure what's worse, the acting or the musicians playing in the movie, or the hokey songs they play (over and over again). This movie is awful. Pure drivel. The user who reported my post and actually had it removed, should be ashamed of themselves. I hope they can learn how to flip burgers, because they have no hope of ever making even a mediocre film.
thomas-glass Very bad acting, was almost expecting a comedy but this one really sinks to new lows. One has to be on a potent cocktail of drugs to make this movie even slightly cohesive. There are plenty of gun fights, but for some reason they're the most realistic aspect of the whole sordid affair. I barely mustered up the courage to sit through the whole sordid affair of redneck after redneck getting either mildly agitated in a borderline comical manner or downright violent with horrendous acting thrown into the mix. A complete waste of time for everyone concerned and that would extend to the production crew and even the catering staff.

spammenowfun This film was made in a remote part of northern California, and such it gives the film a look that could not be found in most modern day movies. Living in the town, I saw the crew filming in various locations, and also got to see one of the screenings shown this summer. The film is not a film in which things blow up every second, but one where there is that good western feeling. It seems most movies nowadays must have bigger and louder explosions for a good movie. The acting in this movie was good, and the script was well written. Once again, I would like to stress how good the locations were in this movie.I give this movie a 9 out of 10
